I prefer the natural methods as I have pets - and chemicals are not good for any of us!!!
Ticks hate basil; you can create a non-toxic spray: Get a grown basil plant; crush it; put into 2 quarts of water and soak it for 2 hrs; strain it and put in spray bottle; spray everywhere you think they might be - its harmless to us and pets, but repels ticks.

Okay I live in an area or should I say state that seems to be the Daycare for all ticks.
Once a month someone comes in and sprays the inside and partly the outside of the home. So when you treat the outside you need to do the inside as well.
Also keep on hand the shampoo for humans which is a lice and tick killer just in case you need to wash your families hair, along with collars and shampoos for any animals that you have living at your home even if they are outside animals.
I have to check myself and my kids on a daily basis for ticks and luckily for only being here about a year so far we have only had to deal with one that was attached and it seriously grossed me out.
Good luck
and since they have already made it into your home, you really need to bomb the home if possible and stay away for a couple of days.

You can trying using door seals and nets for windows to prevent then coming in further. Meanwhile you can call pest control companies. They will treat the home and you will get rid of the pest thats already in immediately. If its expensive you will have to buy some pest control sprays and try it. I am unsure how effective they are.You can get help from the sales assistant to get a good one from supermarkets or hardware shops. The natural way is to make a small smoke of leaves like neem. In a small mud put put dry neem leaves and burn it. You can use some camphor or ghee to intiate the burning. Just be careful enough as you would be with a candle. The smell usually drives of the ticks and pests. You can also place neem leaves in cabinets. If the natural ways is not possible you will have to resort to the pesticide.

The extreme would be get rid of those that carry ticks in. Since I get the feeling you would not care to do that, as a woman who has battled ticks in her time, I can tell you: NO tall grass, weeds, their hiding places, bushes you may brush up against. Also, if you don't care to use SEVIN, you can easily make a mixture of water, soap, and red pepper to drive them away. Just look on Google.

Having dealt with fleas and ticks all my life - I am a firm believer in Spectracide - regardless of what the bottle says - you can spray everything in your house including your carpet, drapes, furniture, mattresses. In addition it will kill any other critters you may have like spiders, ants, roaches and fleas. You can also spray your yard - which would be the best thing to do also and treat any animals with flea and tick shampoo. You must treat all sources to eliminate the problem.

Bomb the house with one thing that kills ticks and one thing that kills the eggs. Ask an exterminator for the best advice. You can be rid of this problem. Go to your store where the bug poisons are sold and find what you need. DON'T buy the cheap stuff - get Raid. You will need to treat your pets if you have pets and don't let them outside or it'll keep happening. Forget about that hippie earthy granola crap about natural ways to deal with it. Ya need POISON!

if you have pets that are carrying in the ticks/being infested by them use a product like frontline plus, it works wonderful and will repel/kill fleas too. flea/tick collars really don't work and using a good product will help protect your pet from lime diease too. this might slightly help your problem, or at the very least help your pets if you have any. good luck with getting rid of the ticks!

Try using boric acid. You can find it at your local drugstore in the vitamin/supplements isle. You need to scrub it into your carpet with a brush, wait a day or so and then vacuum very thoroughly. Also have any pets bathed with a tick and flea shampoo. Don't forget your couch cushions too.

don't waste your time on over the counter stuff. call orchid, professional bug people. Ticks carry so many diseases it is urgent! If you have carpet it's worse! you'll need the furniture sprayed, the carpet, the beds for sure, and bleach all the clothes you can, turn up your hot water heater for this...it is alarming! good luck
