I have a one year old cat who lives in an apartment in Orange County, California with my boyfriend and I. When we come home from work, he appears to have had the most boring day on Earth...only to be subjected again the next day. What can we give him to be entertained (simulated, un-bored, occupied) during the day - other than another cat to play with?

I really think another cat is your best bet. I spent a few years working in an animal shelter an I've got to tell you, despite their reputation, cat's aren't the solitary animals they seem to be. A companion may be just the thing. And the cost of keeping a second cat in terms of food and litter isn't much....of course the vet bills are another story! Good luck!

A kitten or catnip toys tied to a cat tree.
There are all kinds of toys for cats but mine love a crumpled ball made of paper that makes noise or a paper bag or a big box with doors and windows cut out or just a plain cardboard box. Catnip toys ? Insects like grasshoppers or moths are stimulating to cats.
You are lucky he is so laid back,he could be tearing up your house and blinds and curtains, etc.
They each have their own personality.Like people some just love to be couch potatoes.
I have one who only wants to be petted and another who won't sit still. When you say he appears to have had the most boring day on earth do you mean he is lying around being lazy? I f so then maybe his day was not so boring after all. maybe he is tired out from having a great time.:)

because of the fact the consequence of a predator/coyote concern my cats have been indoors for the final 2 weeks. For exercises they have a sixty 5 pound Black Lab that keeps them lively in the process the day. The roof of my house is obtainable from an upstairs window and that i've got been permitting them to obtainable too. had to place a stop to that because of the fact they have the two discovered that in the event that they leap properly they are in a position to land interior the tree beside the dwelling house and benefit get right of entry to to the floor. and because neither cat extremely likes the different cat I merely enable them to chase one yet another around the dwelling house until the canines intervenes and the three of them have a sleep together. we've not any cat toys because of the fact the cats are in lots of situations exterior and purely are available in to consume, sleep and provoke the canines. So we've reverted to the previous standbys - rolled up tin foil and plastic milk jug caps. good now the two considered one of them are interior the basement attempting to confirm who may be first to sink a plastic cap into the sump pump nicely.

I have a cat that's about a year old as well. I bought her a ton of toys to keep her entertained during the day. However, she seems to enjoy playing with twist ties and stuffed animals. I was given a stuffed rabbit as a so called prize and was going to give it to my neice but the cat stole it. I know she plays with it while she's alone. maybe some human baby toys will entertain your cat.
