Ignore the Rosedale comment. That neighbourhood is for rich, old families. As a new person to Toronto, Yonge & Bloor (how Torontonians refer to it) is a good place to start. It's safe and convenient and close to a variety of downtown amenities. To the south at Yonge/Dundas, is the Eaton Centre, a major shopping centre. To the west is the university area at Bloor/Spadina. To the north (and a bit west) is Yorkville, a trendy high fashion area. Going east, you have to travel a few subway stops to Broadview/Danforth to get to Riverdale, an eclectic shopping area.

You will be living in the heart of the Toronto. Yonge and Bloor is a major intersection. It will be very busy. Its a great place to live and very convenient. The subway station there is the busiest in the country. There are cheaper places to live, but then not as lively as Yonge and Bloor.

Definitely a very nice area to move into. That is the heart of Bloor-Yorkville which is one of the more trendier shopping districts in Toronto. I have several friends who live in that area that are rather well off, some of which are retired. You'll like that area a lot. I wish I could afford to live over there.

GREAT place !! You are close to so many attractions !!
But you got to have lots of $$$ !!!
When I moved first : it was Yonge/Sinclair (right next to the church; forgot the name of the appartment building).....great area also but anything on the Yonge line is very expensive.

It is a very convenient place to live if you don't drive, as the subway is right there, but it is very busy all the time
