Hairdryers are bad for your hair and your scalp. Hairdryers do more than just dry your hair they dry your skin and take good oils out of your hair. The best way to protect against this damage is to use a Ion hairdryer and use a heat protection shampoo and conditioner like Thermasilk.

Hair dryers can actually burn your hair if not used properly which most people do. Some times it can dry out your scalp. Sometimes the heating element in your dryer goes "haywire"and gets way too hot too. you should blowdry your scalp first for a beautiful style you want you hair about60%dry before starting to style.

Blow drying near the scalp can burn and dry the scalp out. Blow drying causes split ends and the heat opens the hairs up and can leave it looking frizzy. Hold the dryer away from the scalp at least eight inches. Use of a thermal styling product can protect the hair. L'oreal makes a scalp treatment if you have burned your scalp.

Yes, a dryer can damage your hair and dry out your scalp. If you have to use it, turn the dryer on the lowest setting. I use the "cool shot" on my hair for most of the time. Only takes a minute or 2 longer, and it doesn't give you the frizzies either.
