I am a beginner Mountain Biker so I dont want something extremely expensive...the two bikes I was looking at were the Specialized Hardrock Sport or the KHS Alite 150. I'm just looking for some info and opinions on these brands or the bikes themeselves.

Right away I was thinking the Hardrock. Specialized was one of the first ones to make mountainbikes and their "rock" bikes are pretty good. You also....for sure....want to take it for a test ride. If one is better than the other the get that one. You will only ride it if you love riding it.
You get what you pay for. It's worth getting good deraillers, they can really get a work out when MT biking.

Both are solid brands. You might get a little more bang for the buck on the KHS. It's one of the Taiwanese factories with lots of buying power since they make bikes for a bunch of other big brands.

Got a soft spot in my heart for 'em, too...I was riding a KHS Alite 3000 when I won the only race I've ever won...

But seriously, you'll probably do well with either of them. Base your decision on which one fits better, and which shop treats you better.

My hubby is a recreational Mt. Biker and he LOVES Specialized... he's had the Rockhopper and Hardrock and has ridden for years.

Both bikes are good. I prefer Specialized in overall quality and options.

Test ride them both and go with the one you feel most comfortable riding.
