Many Christians often ask "why" rather than "how". Even with all the facts that one could possibly obtain about the universe, even if scientific methods reveal exactly how the universe came into being and what caused actions and reactions to occur, there is still a nagging question of why any of this should exist. It might be determined how the universe exists; e.g., random actions that culminated in what we observe now. But Science cannot satisfactorily answer "why" the universe "should" exist. It can only point to how it came into being and how it exists and what forces and materials constitute it and manifest it. The "why" question here is not a question of how it came to be, but what reason it should come into being. Christianity is more concerned with the question of whether there is something behind the reason for the universe existing, rather than the question of how the universe came into being. Science cannot answer whether there is a reason for the universe existing. On another note, do you notice that even scientists have to have faith--in science? A scientist cannot verify or repeat all the experiments and observations ever claimed by all other scientists; a scientist has to trust that his community holds truth in high regard. So even a scientist relies on the notion of faith.

Faith is what you believe.
You believe what you want.
Oh, and for the record, if you are wondering, I'm a Catholic, but I've never even read the full bible. The Old Testament contains a lot of stories, in my opinion, that are ways that might try to explain things.
There could be some truth to them, but the New Testament is what most people look at.
It isn't facts that keep my faith. Do you honestly think I'd base everything off of a statistic or a number or a line? I've found everyday miracles in life, inspiration and random things in no where, and...its hard to explain...but I just know someone is watching over me.
I'm old enough to choose my own belief, and I almost did, until I had an epiphany, or something like it, and it made up my mind. Facts from the world don't morph my views.
The world used to be thought of as Flat by literally almost everyone, and later, we find its round. Things have changed so much as time goes by, and I guarentee sooner or later someone else's facts will get proved false.
To answer your question, my original answer sums up my views best:
Faith is what you believe. (Not facts)
You believe what you want.

You're raving on again. Not all of us believe whatever we are taught. Some of us do question our beliefs from time to time. It is not a sin to question them -- it can often make faith stronger.
EDITED by me:
When people say facts come from the Bible -- they DO come from the Bible; they are, after all, if not spiritual, then historical documents. There are not one, not two, not even just three, but four separate accounts that Jesus walked the Earth (and even more if you count the ones not in the Bible). Whether he was God or not depends on your faith.
I've looked at every religion from Bhuddism to Islam, and I know for a fact that I'm in the right place.
What do you think we believe that we shouldn't believe?
(sorry for the stream of thought post)

People believe lies all the time - and not just christians.
We all bought the WMDs in Iraq story that we were fed. How many of us have fallen for "Come on baby, you know I love you..." or "The thing that sets our company apart from other corporations is that we truly value our people." And let's not forget "I am against abortion and as your president I will try to end it" and "Come on if for a free, no obligation, appointment". How about "Guaranteed to increase your size or your money back" or "You could lose 30 lbs in the next 30 days".
I don't think any of us are "lacking in brain faculties" we just go by instinct - and if it rings true to us, we accept it. No big deal.
Peace!

Half of it already is proven to be a lie. But true Christians would believe anyway because they wouldn't care what anyone else said. It's like if someone came up to me and said 1+1=a window. It can be proven but I wouldn't care what you said because I would still believe 1+1=2. For the record I was born Christian and am now agonistic. But my uncle's a pastor and doesn't believe in evolution.

Well the "all about faith" arguement may be moot to you, but as a Christian I have found that understanding and wisdom come after faith and love in God. I was searching for useless knowledge before Jesus but I know now that understanding cannot come without the love of God. Furthermore, I believe that God is the Voice of Truth, therefore He would never say His word was false.

Our facts come from the Bible.
Not some idiot out there somewhere who makes up theories about the whole thing and claims that they've "proven" it to be a lie. It can't be proven. It's a matter of faith. Either you have it, or you don't. Simple as that.

If Christians believe what they know to be truth is 100% truth, then why do the rest of the religions live the way they do? We're confident in our faith because we know what we believe is 100% true. Nothing is false when it comes to God. Science and society today seem to find it a urgent need to explain away the miracles of God, making him seem less existent. But the God I love and trust is one of truth and life and reality. He is not just a figment of my imagination or the imaginations of millions of other people.

Again, you are assuming that all christians believe everything in the bible. And facts do provethat parts ofthe bible aretrue. Unfortunately, none prove that Jesus did any miracles.
