My male cat is a year old he has been nutered. Today my friend brought her kitten over he threw a fit didn't like it so i made her take it home. Now that the kitten is gone my friend is staying with me for a few days my cat is hissing and growling everytime she walks in the room. This is not normal behavior for him. Anyone know why he would be acting this way all he has to do is hear her voice and he starts freaking out.

Tom's nature is to kill any kitten that might challenge his rule in the home. That is what they do,, so my guess is the friends kitten was male and now he feels the person is also a challenge to his territory because she introduced what might be his replacement.

It definitely smells the kitten and associates your friend with it. Don't sweat it, but watch for other antisocial behaviors like urinating on personal effects. Otherwise, give lots of TLC and your cat should be fine.

Your cat is associating your friend with the kitten, and probably thinks she has the kitten with her. Don't worry, you cat is just jealous. Give him lots of attention and I'm sure he'll stop the antisocial behaviour as soon as her realises your friend sent the kitten home.

Maybe he still smells the other cat on your friend or hearing her voice triggers the memory of the kitten? I hope he starts behaving hon! :)
