I'm a firm believer in animal instinct. If your dogs come running at the smell of fruit & veges, then they probably need what's in them.

I knew a Black Lab & a Springer Spaniel who lived on a kiwifruit orchard. They both went ballistic over the avocadoes (it was a race between them & us who got the avocadoes first :o( , & the Lab was a terror for helping herself to the kiwifruit.

I had a couple of boxer dogs who refused to eat their own dinner until they'd had an entree of whatever chilli, garlic, & ginger-loaded meal I'd cooked for myself. With all those Indian & Thai curries, the only thing they ever spat out was the bamboo shoots. They scoffed the rest, even vindaloos!

None of these dogs ever suffered from diarrhoea..we all know what a couple of kiwifruit can achieve..& I assure you the 'curry kids' definitely should have!

I had a horse once that would do anything for cashew nuts..even let herself be caught! Of course, with the price of cashews, that was a short-lived thrill..my dad was FURIOUS when he found his cashews gone & my horse smiling!

Some are, although grapes and strawberries are not good. I give mine carrots and green beens as treats. Giving your dogs large frozen broccoli heads to gnaw on will do a pretty good job of cleaning teeth. When they start to thaw out stick them back in the freezer for another day. They can be kind of messy though!

Make sure to wash or peel the stuff, growers use sprays on them!

My dogs will (and have) raid the garden if the garden gate is left open.

Well dogs are essentially meat eaters and can get an upset stomach from eating fruits and vegetables. Not to mention that they never really want to eat them. But I was reading that certain types of fruits like grapes can be harmful or fatal. Dogs also need to stay on a consistent diet or else it will irritate their stomach. I would stick to just feeding them regular dog food

onions can make them anemic. Grapes and raisins and especially dark choc late is bad. A friend of mines dad years ago would make their dogs vegetable BEEF soup once a week they lived to be 18 and 19 years old. Stayed real health and cheaper then dog food and not all the garbage that's in dog food is what made them live so long i believe.

Yes, most veggies are good for them. Go easy on the tomatoes, and NO onion, grapes, raisins, potato peels, or apple seeds.
Several nuts are toxic to dogs, so best to avoid all but peanuts.

Many Yahoo! Answers have asked this question and the Answer is YES. I feed my puppy the vegetables I actually don't want to eat. LOL. Like broccoli and peas. She eats up right up. It's okay to give it to your dog. Many yahoo users will agree.

When was the last time you saw a dog raid a vegetable garden? I have never seen it. I am sure some dogs may eat them, but I would stick with food made specifically for dogs, it's just healthier for them.

If your dog likes to eat them it is ok to give. But make sure it is used more as a treat than a meal. My dod used to love oranges, grapes and tomatoes.

Dogs are primarily carnivores however, some do like certain fruits and veggies in small quantity. Make sure you don't give them any grapes/raisins or onion.

Do not give them onions, tomatoes or things like that as it will kill them. Also do not give the dog any chocolate. I know that my father sometimes give his a green bean, but this should not be over done. Be very careful about what you do give to the dog, and seek vet advice before doing any of it.
