Islamic history tells that prophet Muhammed used to kill people who committed adultery by stoning them to death. However, I've read the Quran many times trying to find any single verse that support what he did, but I could not!
The only punishment I found in Quran for adultery was LASHING.
Does anyone know why did prophet Muhammed KILLED people who comitted adultery although the Quran sets the punishment to only lashing?

As for the married male or female, who commit adultery, stoning to death is the punishment applied to him. This punishment is only applicable and executed when specific conditions are applied and met. A married, male or female, is stoned to death in either of the following two:
1-No compulsion or force is exerted to obtain a confession from the criminal. Besides, the sentence is not executed after the first confession or open admission of the guilt.
2-These four just and fair witnesses must be known as truthful in their statements and conduct. The four witnesses must confirm a true observation of the actual intercourse directly (this means that the four witnesses actually have seen the male's penis in the female vagina).
Moreover, Islam prescribes lashing punishment against bachelors who commit fornication. This is based on the verse in the Glorious Qur'ân Sura al-Noor (The Light) 24:2 the meaning of which is translated as:“ The woman and the man guilty of fornication flog each of them with a hundred lashes: let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment”.

You say that you did not find a support for what Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) did to married people who committed adultery...???
Did not you read in many places in the Qura'an that orders Muslims to do as whatever they have been told by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)?
Did not you read in the Qua'an that says about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) "He never talks out of His well, but it is a message from Allah conveyed to Him through the Angel?
It is not the matter of killing you only should focus on, it is the matter how to prove adultery..!!!!? Islam has made it so much difficult, it has to be confessed by who ever committed it, as it is difficult to bring Four witnesses who actually saw the act, an no confession is to be forced from any party.
I liked the answer of " fzaa3's lover ", whom I do agree with, and I only wanted to make more clarification.
The answer to this question is beyond this board limitation, as if you really interested to know the whole story, you will need well learned people to explain to you, as such I suggest that if you are interested, you may visit one of the web sites as mentioned below, where you could fined learned people to give you the proper explanation
If you were unable to find the answer, please come back to me and I will help, insha'Allah.

Well the punishment were divided into few sections actually..in QUran it's not only lashing but also there are stone, stone n lashing etc..but this, will be done to the doer of the sin, according to their case. IF the doer is still single not married the person will be lashed not stone..however if the doer is married he or she will be stone to death..
why tis punishment is to harsh and sound cruel this is due to make people scared of committing the sin (fornication). They will think twice before doing it.
However in Malaysia, Indonesia and few other countries which populated by Muslim, we didn't follow this rules..
By the way, it's not prophet Muhammad who killed or sentence this people according to his way, but it's already stated in the QUran and he just follow it..
I think it is good for people to read Quran, but u cant take the words inside there by heart..it does have ambigious meaning if u read it without knowing the whole idea what the passage is all about. It will make u have different perception on it.
Anyway it's good to read other people holly book, as u tend to learn their norms and values as well as why they do this cant do that..I to read simplified version of bible, u know just to have a gist of what is happening, and it doesnt mean if i read it i m interested or wanted to convert but it is important for me to read so that i will respect and know my border and not go beyond what will offend my christian friends..
so respecting other people religions and accept people the way they are not what we want them to be.

This is strange my friend that on one hand you say that in the Quran you find no such punishment as killing of a person for committing adultery and on the other hand you also believe that Prophet Muhammad killed adulterer, whereas, you claim to be an ardent reader of the Quran at the same time?

Prophet Muhammad stoning people to death is just a myth... its just a tale people have told from decades and it will take a while to totally stop the spreading of these types of hideous tales.... how can adultery be a sin in Muslim wen Prophet Muhammad had more than one wife.. u do the math ur self and see if any of these myths are true compared to wots written in the Quran...

WHO CARES how many witnesses you have for fornication or adultery or any like consensual sexual event? And who cares how a confession of such event was obtained? And who cares what some "prophet" supposedly did as read in a book manifested over a thousand years ago?
IT'S THE 21st CENTURY PEOPLE!! Muslims: PLEASE come out of the stone age and live in the modern age with the rest of us. Crimes like adultery do NOT deserve lashing OR killing. Anyone who believes this is a savage.
So-called "Christian" nations no longer kill those who don't believe in Christ and who don't follow his teachings. Why has Christian and Jewish moral law advanced so far since the Middle Ages and Islamic law has not? Islamic law has actually digressed!! Anyone who attempts to justify lashing or killing as a punishment for adultery or sexual sin (yes that's you Radical Muslim and your sympathizers) should be him/herself imprisoned; for you are not worthy of living in the modern civilized world with the rest of society. And BELIEVE ME, Allah is NOT pleased that his most devoted followers have evolved into ignorant extremists. Wouldn't Allah want his people to be educated and sophisticated? Leaders in the world? Teachers of morality and masters of technology? Wouldn't Allah want his people to be wise and forgiving?
Wake up people, that's all I have to say! Life is too short to be killing each other over beliefs and disagreements; especially over stupid things like adultery that harm no one else except the families directly involved.
Thanks for the question!

Honestly.... Muhammad has never killed anyone before... Not even an ant.... Don't say things that are not true... Those who commits adultery will be punished in hell but not on EARTH.... I think, that lashing part you read about is what going to happen to those who commit adultery, in hell.

I believe the answer to this question would be no. The reason to why I say this is because that law was in the Old Testament. The Law of Moses. But, Jesus Christ will forgive those who commits adultery, but you can't just keep dwelling in it.
