Who cares if they were here first? We kicked their @$$ and were kind enough to let them keep some dignity with their reservations, even if it was in the middle of the desert. And yes I am educated on the subject, probably more than you. Why shouldn't they have to join our culture like everyone else?

To the person that mentioned China. That is exactly what I mean. If we are ever taken over I don't see how we would be allowed to maintain or normalcy (own laws etc.) without having to be integrated into a new culture. Why is it that "native americans" deserve special treatment. I don't understand the need for reservations, and exceptions to our laws. (gambling, etc)

You didn't kick their butts. Some have Casinos where I live. And where a friend lives they have almost the whole peninsula. And the goverment can't make them do anything they don't want too-it is in the contract. Many have done well indeed with the little they had.
And diseased wipe out many when we came. We brought it over and were more immuned.
And many would not be here without their help.
And they helped to create this Great Nation-And many blended .

WE have been through this already. Their are a lot more out in our society now and participating in every way, some make huge amounts of Money with their casinos on their reservations and they give a lot back. Its mostly Mexicans saying that because they can't justify the illegal Mexicans breaking the law, and the American public wanting to deport them. It makes them mad, they want us to just let them in and keep our mouth shut, they want all Mexicans from Mexico to come and go as they please, even if their illegal. Well that is not going to happen.

People apply modern day sensibilities to past events with no regard to history. Conquest and colonization were not evil deeds. In fact...the spread of Christianity and the civilization of the pagan cultures of the world was a duty..not a choice. This is compounded by the myth of the tranquil and peaceful Indians that we displaced. Just as warlike as their conquerors they had no qualms with wiping out one another. You are absolutely correct.

Hmm, well as long as you think that invading a land, killing or forcing the people onto reservations, then forcing them to intergrate into the culture of the invader is a good thing to do. Just don't cry if/when China does the same thing to you.

Popa, I don't believe that you are educated on the subject of Native Americans. For one thing, if it weren't for white people, we would be one the strongest races to deal with. Because we are striving people. We are medical doctors, lawyers, scientists, teachers, etc. etc. Plus we know how to survive and work for our goals. So I greatly appreciate it if you would get educated on Native Americans.
