fought Ali for the heavyweight title.....one ended in a split decision......that was very controversial.....and many thought that he actually beat Ali and the other one did beat Ali very badly......and many people feel that Ali got most of his permanent head injuries in that fight.

george chavalo are u serious...lol!! it was jimmy ellis who ali beat in a split decision and larry holmes who beat the s*** out of ali in 1978. It must be noted that ali was well past his prime and he shouldve retired after the thrilla in manilla. ali also lost to trevor berbick in 2 rounds. none of these people could even touch ali in his real prime....before he lost those three years in exile. ali wouldve destroyed them all

The first one has to be Ken Norton in their second fight. One because that was the most controversial victory Ali had attained...and two, because it was the only split decision that Ali had won. The kicker is, I don't believe that Norton was ever a sparring partner of Ali's though.

He did spar with Frazier though, as did the guy who beat the living hell out of Ali, who did spar with him as well. Larry Holmes, the poor mans Ali.
