It doesn't cause true insanity but it can certainly trigger very bizarre behavior in susceptible people, including deep depression or mania. These side effects which are well known to physicians, will dissipate after a few days of being off the drug. If you have been on prednisone for a long time you must taper off very slow or is is very dangerous but if you have only taken it for a day or so then you can quit abruptly.

because it is a steroid, it can affect your hormones, which can cause moodiness and possible irate behavior. do NOT under any circumstances stop taking a steroid without consulting your physician first. they must be tapered off, not stopped "cold turkey"
