Since church property is often valued at purchase prices from many years ago, it would be hard to answer your question precisely. It's certainly a lot of property, but government considers it a worthwhile exemption because, by and large, churches give far more back to the community than the value of the taxes they do not pay.

Incidentally, in some places, different kinds of nonprofit organizations are eligible for property tax exemption.
