Fidel castro wrote a letter to accusing the US:

n your conscience, and on those of the leaders of the world's richest states, lies the genocide which is implicit in the death, every year, of more than 10 million children and tens of millions more people who could be saved. These deaths are the result of a vast assortment of pillage and robbery practiced against Third World countries through the unjust and no longer sustainable world economic order that the rich countries have imposed to the detriment of 80 percent of this planet's population.

running_on_mt, these are capitalist countries,,

You see these countries HAVE economic plans imposed by the US yet they do not comapre to Cuba after 45 years of blockade..most of these countries also are poor because war was brought upon their population. Some of these countries are still poor becasue the US supported dictactorship there to ensure population were kept poor.

Ok lets compare Cuba with top capitalist country lets say the USA.. Cuba produces more doctors than the US..Cuba provides actual doctor to aid populations that are victim of catastrophy.. US produces 95% of terrorism in the world ( Reagan's Humanitarian aid?) and The US army creates catastrophies..( Iraq, Afghanistan)

I think infantile mortality is lower in Cuba..

I’m waiting for them to get out of their “transitional” stage
(apparently they’re trying really hard to do just that).

I'll believe the Cuban people b4 any leader (wether it be ours or theirs)

If Cuba is so great, why are they swimming to get over here? Tell more how the people love Cuba, but want to leave. You talk about their healthcare being better, then why is it at least once a year a child is brought to the U.S. for a life saving operation? Why was Cuba so afraid that their baseball team would defect during the WBC? Tell us more how they live so good they are willing to die to leave.

I think that your question is more about where is this world going to be in the next ten years or so.

I made some research and found something you may be interested in learning.

as far as cubas standard of living compared to capitalist countries; why don't you compare it to other capitalist countries. your chart was very selective as to countries to compare cuba to...Haiti? come on get serious.
