Just some of the real basics . . . get a good night's sleep, everynight. Increase your water intake. Determining what is causing the headaches will help to determine what remedies can help. Allergies? Worth trying to find out the cause to then determine if hot/cold therapy would be beneficial.
Massage can also help quite a bit!

Do you have headaches often or constantly? Then try a different solution.

Go for a manual one-time treatment called Atlasprofilax. The effect on the self-healing power of your body is simply amazing - own experience. :-)

Just - the treatment is available in California and Europe only, costing approx. 220 dollars. It's really worth travelling far.

When I get a headache, I try to find the source. Is it stress, tension, back-ache, lack of fresh air, lack of food, dehydration, etc. Eliminate the source if possible and see if that helps.

When that doesn't work, I try getting a cup of tea and snuggling under a blanket in front of the TV.

If there's no relief then, I get ticked off and have a few drinks of rye. By then, I am ready for bed anyway.

Good luck!

Acupressure: take a round, flat object like a smooth stone or a quarter, and press it firmly into the fleshy joint between young thumb and forefinger.

Herbs: make tea from yarrow (for the pain) and borage (for fever, to reduce stress, and to increase adrenal function).
Chew on fresh catnip leaves (it is a form of mint that relaxes humans, despite its reputation as kitten cocaine).
Take valerian herb capsules (makes you sleepy) with chamomile tea (for a stressed up tummy) and try to take a nap.

Environmental: wear sunglasses/reduce exposure to flourescent light. Use a magnifying glass to reduce eye strain. Avoid exposure to strong smells and sounds. Examine your diet to make sure you haven't made a sudden change, like a strong reduction or increase in your caffeine intake, avoid fatty foods, sugar, and processed dairy.

Traditional medications: try acetimetophen (Tylenol), or if your tummy isn't tender, ibuprofen may work faster. Use a pressure point cream made with wintergreen on your temples.

Aromatherapy: breath in relaxing, mild scents, like essential oils from lavendar (for relaxation), citrus (for energy when lethargy sets in), or rosemary. If you have a head cold as well, try peppermint. They can be added to epsom salts for a bath, or heated in a diffusor.

Skin/Face: apply a cool towel to the forehead, and 100% pure alow gel (no alcohol) to the back of the neck. If the headache becomes severe, apply an icepack to the back of the skull.

Well I like to take Advil but that is only when I am not at home or don't have time.

But the best thing for me to do is just lay down with all the music and lights turned off and just take a long nap.

Usually if you let go of all the stress it should go away.

Honestly I have bad headaches. The best thing you can do is run your head under your bath faucet and have the water on cold. It will be shocking at first cause its cold, but allow yourself to relax and let your head be under there for 60sec. Then air dry your hair and find something that relaxes you to keep any tension or pressure down. I promise you it works.

I just made my daughter drink 3 cups of water for her headache.

I find that dehydration is usually the cause of headaches for her in the summer especially.

Over the counter stuff, we use acetaminophen.
