I think the idea of such a drastic end is scary for everyone. However, I don't think it'll be the end of the world as it will probably be more of the end of the world as we know it.

Also, no one can tell you when it'll happen. That's not knowledge anyone will ever have

Maybe it scares you because you think that it will painful and horrible and all those kinds of things you see in the movies in disaster films. And there may be terrible things that happen in this world - in fact, terrible things are happening to millions of people every single day. But Christ promises that for those who love Him, there is no death - He is the resurrection and the life... So there is no reason to fear really.

When you go to the dentist, you may be anxious and nervous and scared - and the procedure could hurt or be unpleasant for a few minutes. But then when it's over, you feel a sense of relief and you're actually happy to walk outside, right? If that happens with something so simple and mundane as going to the dentist, what must the changing of the fabric of this world be like?

But as Jesus said when He appeared to his disciples after his resurrection - don't be afraid.

If you are a Christian you won't be on earth during the end times, 1Thessalonians Chp 4 The Hope of the Resurrection
13 And now, brothers and sisters, I want you to know what will happen to the Christians who have died so you will not be full of sorrow like people who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus comes, God will bring back with Jesus all the Christians who have died.
15 I can tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not rise to meet him ahead of those who are in their graves. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the call of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, all the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. 17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever. 18 So comfort and encourage each other with these words.

I think that this is a normal thing to be scared of. Many people are. No one will ever be able to tell you when this is going to happen. The important thing is to focus on living everyday to its fullest. If you spend too much time worrying about it you will have wasted your life. Don't do that, go out and find something else to do with your life that is a little less self involved and you will probably reap more of a reward from that.

The Bible says that no one knows the day or the hour that Jesus will come again, so it isn't possible to answer the second part of your question. There are many arguments to be made that we are in the end times, but because God's time is much different than ours, there is no way to know how soon. Just be ready.

Why does it scare you so much? Fear is the lie and deception that Satan lays on your heart. An unwavering faith in God will diminish that fear. I used to fear death, but when I put my faith and trust in God, I stopped being afraid of death. I will gladly go to my Father when he calls me.

It scares you because it will change life as we know it. Change is also scary, even when it's good. It's hard to not know what the future holds. Even when the present sucks, it's easier to know what to expect.

I don't really think it matters at all how near it is. There's nothing any of us can do about it and truly, it's really not our business to know. Our business is to get through the day to day business of living our lives in joy and love, appreciating the gift of life that God gave us.

is it the end of the world that scares you or is it death? what if the rest of the world or at least most of it was gone and you were still alive? would you still be scared? i used to get that rollercoaster feeling in my chest when i thought about death. but i found out that there is a god and he saved my life once and he'll do it again. and he did it when i was a straight sinner!

Any ending is scary.....and it does seem to be more and more apparent that we are screwing up the enviroment and biblical prophecies are coming true. But it is also a great time to do great things and inspire others! Do everything you always wanted to do---and don't hesitate---cause the worse thing i can think of in the end---is what i should have done.

It scares you, because you are not secure in where you will spend eternity. Everyone lives forever in one place (heaven) or another (hell).
The only way to get to Heaven is to realize that you are a sinner. Recignize that Jesus died for your sins. Receive Jesus into your life. Repent from sin.
Otherwise, people go to Hell.
