She should eat protein and gelatin so her hair will grow in strong. She can buy gelatin capsules if she doesn't want to eat a lot of Jello. She should also take a Vitamin E capsule daily and cook with canola oil, for shiny hair.

She should use a deep conditioner on her hair once a week. She can pick one up at a drug or beauty supply store. Also, she should avoid straightening, curling, or blow drying her hair. All of these can damage one's hair and make it drier.

She can also try using coconut oil on her hair once a week. She can just massage it into her scalp, and pull it through her hair. Leave it on overnight, and shampoo it out in the morning. Coconut oil adds moisture and shine, and helps repair damaged hair. You can find it in a natural/health food store or online at places like www.drugstore.com. She can use olive oil or shea butter as a treatment if she would prefer.

Tell her to start using moisturizing shampoo, putting lotion in it, or applying olive oil to it. Also if she takes a shower every other day instead of every day. Washing hair cleans it but also washes out natural oils. If she uses a hair dryer, then she should stop! Drying hair with a hair dryer can severly damage delicate hair; that's what happened to my mom. She has very dry hair because she used a hair dryer for so long. All that heat is not good for hair.

Does she use hair care products for dry hair? She should start out with a short hair cut and then treat her hair very well, before she washes it she should warm a spoon full of olive oil and massage that into her hair before washing with a good shampoo meant for dry hair, then a good conditioner for dry hair. She might also use a leave in type conditioner. stay out of sun, eat high quality foods rich in good oils, like salmon, avacados, and such.Take a vitamin E capsule every day.

I don't know if your Mom colors or perms her hair but over processing can cause the hair to dry out. Try using infusium 23 leave in conditioner on wet hair, Don't blow dry. Another good product is Silk Therapy. Good Luck

Straight olive oil is really hard to wash out. She can try using a deep conditioner/oil on clean hair, then wear a shower cap to let the product penetrate. When she's done, just rinse the hair and apply a leave-in conditioner or serum.

Are her skin and/or nails dry too?

I got a really bad perm, and my hair was extremely dry, and I hated it. What worked for me, was once a week, I would put a good conditioner in at night, leave it in until morning, and then rinse it out. Also, keep getting it cut. It takes a while, but she can do it. Biolage has a conditioner for dry-overstressed hair. Works good.

Use a professional spray-in, leave-in conditioner. You HAVE to keep the ends trimmed. You CAN'T OVERDRY your hair with the dryer, Or get TOO CLOSE TO YOUR HAIR with the dryer. Or stay out in the SUN. You JUST CAN'T do these things without a trim every once in a while!!!!!

Take a multi-vitamin supplement with biotin in it. There are special supplements for hair and nails and they really work. Give them a shot, take the entire course, probably about 6-8 weeks worth, and see what happens.
