Because people naturally are defensive on this subject. Also, most people in this world are close-minded on the subject and don't want/care to debate about it. They probably think by you bringing this subject up, you have the prior knowledge that they dislike questioning God, ergo you are trying to get a rise out of them.

Some people apply an earthly 'respect' to the concept of God; by the zeal that can be experienced through knowledge and understanding of God, it should be understandable how an offense can be perceived when some one does not show reverence to this most deep and most personal advancement of the spirit--it is the belief that sustains faith in God and it is their belief that feels challenged to protect the faith--God needs no champion because God IS for those that believe in God. Questions espouse knowledge and knowledge espouses wisdom--both of which God freely and openly promotes in order for all of mankind to find truth in the lives that we are born into--otherwise, we battle, war, and are utterly destroyed for our lack of knowledge or "rise to our descension".

You are questioning their faith. To most people it is something very personal to them. If you have questions about God, feel free to post them. Ignore the people who get mad, and read the answers that aren't telling you what a bad person you are. Some where in there is the truth. Unfortunately, you have to figure out yourself what to believe. No one else can tell you that.

because when you question something that SO many people believe in so firmly you don't just question the person we worship, you question our lifestyle and everything that we have beened raised to believe in. If you were to question God around me, i wouldn't think that you're trying to get a rise out of me. i'd hear you out, but then when you're done, i would tell you my personal beliefs in return. But i would not get affended. That's a good question though. I don't understand why people would get affended when somebody questions what they believe in. Everybody is intitled to their own beliefs and lifestyles whether you are Christian, Buddhist, Athiest, Agnostic, ect.

What is your question? Why not just ask God? What answer did Job get when he questioned God? Are you sure you are ready for the answer? Read up on it.

Relgion is a very personal issue and most people will be alaremed if you question something they believe in strongly.
As long as you are looking for a healthy and respectful debate most people will not be offended.
