Everyone lives in this world where we can make decisions that either propel or repel a person in relation to the Lord. Since we all live together in this state of existence, we encounter people that are either becoming more heavenly or more hellish according to their decisions. Unfortunately, the evil in this world causes great suffering. Life on Earth can either be the beginning of Heaven or the beginning of Hell for each of us because of free will. As far as pain and suffering go, sometimes such hardships are when we can really "hear" God "shouting" at us; in other words, when everything is fine and happy in life, we tend to ignore God. Through suffering we can find out much about ourselves and faith.

The issue is the theologies and concepts of ourselves and God. Many religions have theologies where God is directly involved in the world and created us as individuals that are born, suffer, and die. This whole system - where predator feeds on prey, where the innocent come to die - is insane and doesn't speak well of a creator being. Therefore, it seems logical that these theologies and concepts of God are wrong. We create our own image of God as we project our thoughts (thoughts of individuality, bodies, judgment, reward, etc.) outward and make a god from them. Note that even Jesus' parable of the prodigal Son tries to get across the projections - e.g. both sons have an image of god that is contradicted by the nature of unconditional love (the 'good' son is angry when he realizes he's not getting some special reward for following the rules, behaving, etc.).

Anyway, there are theologies that provide a different perspective of God. 'A Course in Miracles' theology doesn't have God creating the world or us; instead, the whole concept of individuality and separation from the whole is presented as the problem. The concept itself shouldn't be taken literally but, instead, used as a means for direct experience. And THAT'S the key in all of this: don't take any theology or set of concepts as an end but treat it as a means for YOUR direct experience. Belief is NOT transformative; DIRECT EXPERIENCE is. Questions about God will be answered once and for all when an enlightenment experience is realized.

That is a very complex question. God does not like it either, read the First Testament. The Garden of Eden started out as paradise. Man didn't have to worry about what he was going to eat, wear or work. Then came the first sin and we had to wear clothes and till the fields...... and we kept on sinning, the serpent kept on seducing us and it got so bad He had to send his own Son as a sacrifice. There's so much more to be said, just read your bible, a little goes a long way. Jesus loves children, the innocent and the poor, if you are disturbed by cruelty think about how He grieves it.

A man went to a barber shop to have his hair and his beard cut as always. He started to have a good conversation with the barber who attended him.
They talked about so many things and various subjects. Suddenly, they touched the subject of God. The barber said: "Look man, I don't believe that God exists as you say."

"Why do you say that?" asked the client.

"Well, it's so easy, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God does not exist. Ok, tell me. If God existed, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be no suffering nor pain. I can't think of loving a God who permits all of these things."

The client stopped for a moment thinking, but he didn't want to respond so as to cause an argument. The barber finished his job and the client went out of the shop. Just after he left the barber shop he saw a man in the street with long hair and a beard (it seems that it had been a long time since he had his hair cut and he looked untidy).

Then the client again entered the barber shop and he said to the barber: "You know what? Barbers do not exist."

"How can you say they don't exist?" asked the barber. "I am a barber and here I am."

"No!" the client exclaimed. "They don't exist because if they did there would be no people with long hair and beards like that man who walks in the street."

"Ah, barbers do exist. What happens is that people do not come to me."

"Exactly!"- affirmed the client. "That's the point. God does exist! What happens is people don't go to Him and do not look for Him. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."

People were given the gift of free will. It is not God's fault if we abuse that gift.

If you are a teacher and you teach a(n adult) student, but the studen refuses to learn, is that the teacher's fault or the student's?

Look for the love in the world, don't despair over the suffering. Just do your best to make the world a better place and be a positive force in it to the extent that you can.

Because God gave people a free will. Would you want to marry someone who was forced to be with you, or would you rather be with someone who CHOSE to love you? God does not force His will or love on anyone, and He doesn't force anyone to love Him back. And as for innocent children being abused, I think that is one of many things that makes God cry!
Contrary to popular opinion (or popular desire) God is not a genie! He doesn't just sit around all day waiting to rescue people from red lights and muggers.

The Lord always gives us choices, whether it's a bad one or a good one. The people that do those things are just lost and making the wrong decisions. God has an infinite love for us, but until we seek him and accept him there will always be someone doing wrong. But he is always there to comfort us in the time of storms.

He isn't the cause of suffering, we are! It's because a lot of people choose to go a different way, and not follow God's plan! the good news is that He is always near us to help us through our suffering!

There are many injustice in this world. Because we live in a fallen world, since our forefather has sin, sin enter human race. It is not God will to have all this things happen. God has given human free will since he create us. But we have to aware that all of what we do and say will be accounted to God for judgement. Even the children of God suffer in this world, but to all of God children there is promises of God, of guidance, of protection and comfort. as long as we abide in God. It is God will that all come to repentance and receive abundant life. God is just He will punish and judge but we are not to judge and revenge. The word of God says "leave room for God's anger to repay those have done wrong". Some people receive punishment from God in this life but some after death, whatever it is nobody can escape the jugdement of God after death, only God is so mercifull that He longs to see everyone to come to repentance that no one shall perish, He give chances for us to come back to Him. That is the mission of all God's children on earth to spread the good news of His love. If not all of His children will rise to heaven once salvation is receice, and no need to suffer in this fallen world. God promise to His children is that He will be with us to go through.

May you receive His love too.
