Don't worry, about sin. God isn't one to get offended and throw you in to hell because it doesn't exist. So just try to work on the communication thing. Sometimes family can be irritating, but you have an obligation to at least try to be nice to them.

lol I am sure there are tons of other Catholics and for that matter Christians who don't like other people, but it's nice that you can see that it is not a good thing. One of the most important commandments are to Love God and to Love thy neighbor as thyself. So not doing such would be a sin. A sin that I think everyone is guilty of at one time or another, but that is why Christ sacrificed Himself for us, so that we could repent and become clean.

All Christians (including Catholics) are commanded by Christ to love our neighbors and our enemies. This love means we have to wish the best for them.

This does not mean we have to like them (although liking them helps) or approve of their actions or behavior.

This often happens between parents and children. They love each other tremendously but some times can't stand each other.

Do not fall into the temptation to hate (which is the opposite of love).

With love in Christ.

I don't know if it's a sin, but I do know that in my experience, I've found we just cannot like everyone and sometimes it damages us to be in certain relationships with people. Do your best to maintain good relationships with these people (it's nice to have a family), but if you feel like the relationships are just hurtful for you, you can't let yourself feel guilty because these people happen to be part of your family.

Ah you've gotten some friendly answers here haven't you?! I'm not Catholic but I don't believe that the church says that you have to like every person on the earth. You should still be respectful but you don't have to like them. No person can like everybody.

Yes. To look upon anyone with dislike, disdain, or hatred, is a sin. As Christians, we must make efforts to love everyone up to and including our enemies.

1John4:20: If any one says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.

But, you know what? Don't go too hard on yourself because that might actually prove counter-productive.

Only a select few are meant to be changed overnight. For the rest of us, the old axiom applies, "Be patient, God isn't finished with me yet."

There are times when everyone doesn't like someone in their family. You still love them, right? And there are some family members that maybe very difficult to like. I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you.

It isn't a sin to not like someone...it's the bad things that come after. Like thinking wrong thoughts, acting in wrong ways towards them, etc....Please feel free to IM me sometime. I would be honored to help you out. :)

Not liking and not loving are not necessarily the same thing. LOVE your aunt, uncle, and grandparents by treating them as you would like to be treated at their age, in their situation. Who knows, with such activity, you might even start to like them!
But the main thing is to act in a loving way towards them.

It doesn't say in the Bible whatsoever that you HAVE to like all of your family members. I was abused by my mother. Is it wrong for me to have some dislike for her? No. But I forgave her and that is all that matters. You're born into family, but it does say if you need to, ditch them if their morals aren't right.
