I'm going camping through the mountains with my 2 teens for 1 week in July. I have a tent, air mats, stove, tarp, blankets (the main stuff), but it's been 5 years since we went and I don't want to forget anything.

Any campers out there with advice on what to bring along?

Thanks.

To really have fun on your camping trip, do a shakedown camp out in the back yard. This will do two things it will show you what you really need and it will show you if your gear is going to work. It is terrible to be in a thunder storm and find that you do not know how to put the tent up. Check every detail and you will have a fun trip !

I have been camping all over the us and into places in Japan, soon to go to Africa and all other places. It all depends on where you are going to go, what mountains and how good are you at not taking showers? hehehe, its ok, most people are not good at the no shower deals. You need a sleeping bag per person, a tent if you wish, I usually dont do tents. stove if you want, pots and pans for cooking. lantern, flashlight. I agree on a good book, but if there are great sites you may not need it. Clothes, although you may not need heavey warm wears, I would take either a sweater or a light jacket. and a great attitude because you are going to have a great time. Have fun

Looks as if you have almost everything that you need. I would suggest a poncho or rain gear of some sort; quick mountain downpours are typical. What are you going to eat. Pickup some freeze dried or dehydrated food packets, and be sure to have plenty of water in containers. You might even invest in a water purifier for backpacker's. You didn't mention clothes. That's up to you but I do suggest heavy shorts and thick work or hiking socks. And good boots, probably as important as anything for the mountains. Have fun. I envy you; it's been too long since I made a trek on the Appalachian Trail.

It relies upon on the place you're going, yet i'm presuming the temperature will variety from cool to chilly, so in line with that, listed here are some suggestions: - 3 pair of denims (one stylish, dark wash pair, one greater casual pair, and one pair you at the instant are not terrified of having grimy/good) - 3 tank tops (stable for something) - 3 shirts (user-friendly, widely used placed on) - a million pair khakis/dressier pants - a million pair sweats - a million long sleeve blouse/polo - a million hoody - a million jacket - a million set of PJ's - 2 pairs of footwear (one pair of fantastic shoes, one pair of nicer footwear, and, in case you have the room, a pair of turn flops) - sufficient undies/socks/bras - Hair ties - Toiletries constantly carry a p.c.. of pads/tampons, you on no account comprehend. adjust this record to your guy or woman needs.
