my mother sighn me up to be in the columbus teen youth comunity office. and tomorrow i have a meeting i have nothing on resent teen issues. i have to find a way to help teens. any ideas please help me.

Simply relate to them. Don't act like a know-it-all adult because they'll shut you out quick. If a teen says something R-rated, don't act like they did something wrong, or like you can't talk to them about a topic like that. Apparently they know enough for it to come out of their mouth, so talk to them in a mature way about the topic. Bring up MY SPACE. All the kids are into that. Tell them you want to see they're page, and then comment on it.

Play it by ear. Just listen, they will love to have a sounding board. Nothing goes away. Their memories may need a little nudge to get to the surface, relax, give them space, and time.

That is a simple yet complex way to approach it. How you will know what is a recent issue, is what they are willing to trust you with. So.. If you keep Confidentiality, you are in.
