Read Earnest Becker's "Denial of Death". It's kinda deep, (not creepy, just deep and though provoking) but it gives lots of insites into putting it all into perspective.
While I'm by NO means ready for it yet, I don't have a fear of death. I know that when I die, my soul lives on and goes to whatever God has in store for me next. Only my body, my earthly shell will remain behind, and there will be no feelings left in that. I don't, however, relish the idea of my body being stuck in a hole in the ground someplace that my loved ones will have to visit, and maintain. Instead I am opting for cremation and will elect to have my ashes spread over a beautiful hilltop somewhere so I can continue to be part of "every living thing". Did you know that some people today are electing to have little bits of their ashes put into lockets to leave to certain loved ones? Or you can be in beautiful urn or statue on somebodys mantle. There are lots of options besides underground in a casket. Tell your friend not to worry. And if (he/she) is as young as I think (he/she) may be, it's certainly too early to start worrying about it now. If my guess is correct, I'd say that can wait at LEAST another 80 years.

Sounds like a panic attack. I've had them before & they're very real and scary. The good thing is, you're letting yourself be talked into having them. Try keeping yourself busy, busy, busy. Read a funny book before going to bed, get lots of exercise, play music & sing along - and don't worry about being under ground in a casket. By the time YOU die they'll probably be zapping people into dust & blowing them into space to save money & ground space.

I don't think that anyone is crazy about the prospect of being under ground in a casket. It sounds like "your friend" has an anxiety disorder, and would benefit from speaking to a professional about it. Maybe they need some medication for anxiety, their response is not a normal one.

That person probably doesn't trust in God, it's true if you get this person to learn about the Bible and possibly go to church, then death doesn't seem so scary, and no I am not a preacher, or even a regular at church, but just knowing about what might happen, relaxes the mind.

Is this person close to dying? If this person is close to death then the least you can do is just be there for them. Sometimes just talking to someone helps you deal with a difficult issue.

If however this person is not anywhere near dying and freaks out for no reason then he or she might need professional help.

It's good that she goes to church. But to get rid of the fear of death, she needs to put her trust in Christ, and be assured that she will be in Heaven someday. That is the only way to be at peace with the inevitability of death.

That is called having a panic attack. I had the same problem.. Tell your friend to go to the doctor, make sure they are honest with their doctor. The doctor can prescribe meds for them. I have to take them for the same reason. Let them know that it will be ok. When they are having a panic attack, breath deeply and pray. It will be ok.

should see a therapist. i know i am uncomfortable about anything but a mausoleum myself. i however do not freak out, sounds like they would benefit from talking about the fears with a professional. my father is convinced if he writes a will it means he will die, no one can talk him out of it. we are gonna have fun when it happens , not.

If she believes in Jesus Christ then she should know that when she dies she will be with him in Paradise That is what Jesus told the thief on the cross
