I do not think it is as prevalent as many may seem but with the "religious right" so in our face at the moment it would appear we are all intolerant. Stick with the guys that have ALWAYS been completely intolerant (evangelical protestant churches --- and yes Baptists, that includes little ol YOU) and sure intolerance is alive and thriving. Come to the Methodist Church and find out otherwise.

Religious intolerance is increasing because the most intolerant religion is secular humanism(atheism). They are so dishonest that they won't even admit it is a religion. But watch them defend their beliefs. The reason it has increased is because we have been teaching it in our schools. While these liars say there should be a seperation of church and state, what they really want is for the state to be run by their belief system. Christians should wake up.

Because people make personal attacks when they don't agree with you, or they stereotype everybody in your religion (even though they complain about being stereotyped), or they accuse you of being brainwashed before they even get a chance to know you.
People from all religions have done this, atheists too.
The funny thing is everybody wants everyone else to agree with them, yet they put them down in trying to do so. It's very counter-productive... isn't it.

Because each religion thinks that it is the right one and all others are wrong. I feel that a person should feel free to worship whomever they want in whatever way they want but when someone tries to tell me how I should worship or that my beliefs are stupid I fight back against them so I think others react the same way.

Because crazy people want this country modeled after European countries so everything goes so to say. In order to do this they must discredit religion to do away with it.
