As a redhead, i can only empathize with your girl. Before i actually got smart and realized that my chances of tanning would be, well, near zero, i used to burn severely. The only relief i would find was with Solarcaine Medicated Spray (Solarcaine now also have a spray with Aloe.) It's the best! I also used yoghurt and it helped.
Here are some Helpful Sunburn Pain Relief Tips:
If the sunburn is severe and she is blistering, feel faint, or nauseous: see a doctor immediately.
For Sunburn Relief apply natural aloe vera gel every 4 hours.
Consume 32 oz. of water initially and 8 oz. every hour.
Take a cool bath for sunburn relief, and don't use bath salts, oil, or bubble bath.
Saturate a washcloth with whole milk, and apply to affected area. Or just take a milk bath, the ultimate for sunburn relief.
More Sunburn Pain Relief Tips From Users:
For sunburn relief use a combination of vinegar and ice water mixed in a bowl. Using a washcloth, hold it to the affected area. Repeat this process for about 30-45 minutes. Then layer on 100% aloe vera gel. The first application of aloe should be rubbed in, and then layer it on top like a mask.
Aloe vera gel works great for sunburn pain relief. Along with aloe apply a moisturizer with coconut oil, alternating every few hours. Also for sunburn relief drink a lot of water, a liter of water within an hour of recognizing the burn. Put aloe gel on once or twice when you get home and at night before bed, and the next morning.
Good luck!

The vineagar fix works well for me. Mom would soak an old washcloth in vineagar and let it sit on the burn for a few minutes. Aloe, aloe vera, Solarcaine, all good stuff too.
Just a word of reminder-warning - do NOT put butter or anything that is like a gel (vaseline-like) on the sunburn UNLESS it says it is for sunburn treatment. (I've never heard of a vaseline product for sunburn, but I could be wrong.) Things like this actually trap the heat in the lower layers of the skin and cause more damage.

Don't laugh - the plain good old yoghurt is the best remedy for sunburns. I had identical problems for so many times, and yoghurt has always helped.
Put the yoghurt on the cotton bud (larger one, size of the fist) and start spreading it easily and slowly over the burn. In 15-20 minutes the pain is eased, and the skin is relieved. Take off the old layer of yoghurt with another cotton bud of the same size as the previous one, but soaked with water, and then put another layer of yoghurt. After another 15-20 minutes, remove it the same way as the previous one, and then put aloe vera.

A lot of Alvera, wither from the bottle or the plant.
Nothing helps the burn right away, because when you are sunburn the skin is cooking.
Putting your daughter in a cool bath will help make her feel better along with slowly stopping the skin from cooking. You can add Tea bags in the bath and take a couple of the tea bags and put them on her, something in the tea helps draw out the poison from the sunburn. My mother used this on me when I was younger and I swear by it with my children.

If the sunburn is blistered or blistering a trip to the doctor and a prescription for silvadine cream will help. It is one of many ointments used for burn patients. I had to use it when I was in my teens and got a really nasty sunburn.

Not sure where you live, but if you can get your hands on an aloe plant, the juice inside rubbed on the burns is miraculous. I have seen some aloe gels that claim they are 100% aloe, I have never tried them..but they may be just as good.

There is this green can of stuff you can get at Walgreen's...I can't remember the name...something like aloecaine...anyway it has aloe and a numbing agent. You spray it on. It's nice and hold and it numbs the sunburn.

Aloe Vera will help keep the burns cool and protected. In the future, make sure that she wears sunscreen, a hat, and clothing when she's outside to prevent further burns.
