it means that you are not missing what is going on around you because you are either agonizing over things in the past, or too busy worrying and planning for the future. live in the present. enjoy your life as it is right now, it can change in an instant. there is another saying that goes something like 'tomorrow is not promised to us.' savor the sunset, kiss the girl, play with the kids.

For me living in the present means I stay in the moment, I surrender to things I cannot change and always try to do the next right thing. I don't dwell on past insults or injuries, I don't obsess about what may happen tomorrow.

Not poetic, but true.

To live in the Present if you really must know
is not that hard if you can just show
that around your house you must put wrapping paper
and hope that your neighbors don't think it's a caper
putting the paper up high and down low
then topping it off with a gigantic red bow.

That my illustrious friends is living in the Present!!!

Tough question. To me it means, to understand that the past and the future do not exist. Only the present exists. It is both fleeting and eternal. To live in the present means to live in tune with reality.

To live in the present means forget about the past!
Don't live for your dreams because the present won't last!
The past is behind you and the future is too far -
Live for today, because this is where you are.
Peace!

When we dwell in the past, we fill our hearts with regret.

When we spend too much time in the future, we flood our minds with worry.

To live in the present is to live in the moment; it is the place of greatest happiness.

P.S. If you need proof, watch children at play. They are experts at living in the now.
