Are men still expected to pay for dates? I started dating again. I feel uncomfortable with expecting the man to always pay? First dates who pays? I am really confused. When I was young it was the man who paid. But I work and make my own money. So should we split the bill?

Rules....we have rules?!*? Basically if you are "tweens" tween 30-50 then if he asks you out for dinner and he is expecting to pay. Should you be the ask-er then it is assumed you are the payer. Unless it is discussed beforehand and decided to go "dutch treat" (separate checks) Even if your date is picking up the check, that does not mean you cannot offer to buy him a drink or leave a tip for the table.

The best way to handle the uncertainty is to discuss it beforehand. That way you and your date will have a clearer understanding of what each of you is comfortable with.

Most of the time the guy ends up paying. I think whomever asks for the date should pay. There's nothing wrong with splitting the bill at any time. There are no "set" rules for this. Just don't go out expecting for the guy to pay.

There is no rule but, try to pay and see if the guy stops you and says he will pay. I am a guy and I like paying for the first date. Try to pay and if he lets you then you know his rules. That is the only way you are going to find out.

As a guy........I would definitely pay for the first date, and the second if there was one. After two dates, I wouldn't expect it or demand it, but if the girl wanted to pick up the tab from time to time, fine by me.

You should at least offer to split it... some men will say no and others will think it is cool that you don;t expect them to pay for you

nope the man continues to pay unfortunately if you offer to pay he will expect you to pay all the time or you will make him feel like he is less of a man. so let him pay...
