My 6 mo. old puppy has little spots on the backs of his feet. They look slightly bloody and he keeps licking/biting them. I'm a new pet owner and the only other thing I can think of is that he was trying to get out of his kennel? Could it be fleas? Help?!

It's a boy. I've used the flea treatment that you apply to their backs. If it is fleas, how can I tell? I don't see anything.

It could be allergies...take him to the Vet to be sure. The cause of "hot spots" or "Kennel sores" can be from many things. There are sprays you can get from your Vet that will help stop the licking and itching.

I think it has 2 do w/their sensitive skin! I also have a 6 mo old mini and he has a 1 on his neck, I took him 2 the vet and they tested him for everything! and it was nothing! she said that schnauzers have very sensitive skin! Which I do bath him a lot b/c this breed has a yucky smell when they are dirty! She gave me an antibodic & some antibodic sav to put on it! It is still bad!
I don't know if this helped!

Could be fleas, treat him and see.
Could be trying to get out of his cage, wait and see.
I think he is allergic, either to fleas or his food. Food allergies commonly cause skin irritation.
Go to naturapet.com for all you need to know about allergies and dog nutrition.
Wheat and corn products are common allergens. Read the ingredients of the food you are feeding him and consider switching him to a higher quality food.
Wellness, Avoderm, Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul (yes that is dog food). They all have websites by the same names.

Are the spots open wounds or are they just red? Are they bleeding or ozing or just red? If the fur is red and the skin just looks iritated than it could just be allergies. My female gets allergies from the grass, pollen and ragweed. If this is all it is I have an easy solution to this problem.

Schnauzers do have skin problems..mine has these pimple like bumps that pop up on her. And she scratches at them. I would take your dog to the vet to verify the problem. It could be allergies.
