Messiah = in Christianity, Jesus Christ regarded as the Messiah prophesied in the Hebrew Bible. Messiah is judaism in the Hebrew Bible, an anointed king who will lead the Jews back to the land of Israel and establish justice in the world. Therefore, some considered Jesus as the King of the Jews.
Christian = somebody who believes that Jesus Christ was sent to the world by God to save humanity, and who tries to follow his teachings and example.
Catholics are Christians. According to the Encarta Dictionary a christian is one who believes in Jesus Christ. That covers ALL religions that believe in Jesus Christ.
Jesus was by definition a prophet.
Prophet = somebody who interprets divine will. In religion somebody who interprets or passes on the will of a deity.
Jesus did not claim to be God. Others accused him of claiming so. Jesus DID however profess that he was the son of God. He claimed God as his father.
And you're absolutely right. Jesus Christ WAS human. And an extraordiny one at that. Hope I helped to enlighten. More specific questions will get you more specific answers. Such as if you wanted to know where in the Bible does it say "..........?" I have a great Bible program that can find many things much easier than most scholars, which is something I'm not. Which is why I have this program.

The Messiah is not a prophet. The Messiah is the final King and Savior of the Jewish people.
Jesus is God incarnate in the form of a Man. The Holy Trinity is the concept of 3 in1; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Jesus dies on the cross for our sins as the ultimate sacrifice. This was God the Son. He was laid in the tomb and three days later arose from the dead conquering Death and Hell. This is the deity of the Christ. Jesus later ascended into Heaven to be with the Father. However before he left he provided his spirit, God the Holy Spirit, as a comforter until his return. Most Christians believe Jesus will return again one day to be the Messiah or King of all who believe.
There is so much more to go into that it would require a great deal of time and space to explain much more. You need to read the Bible. You will find, not only, many great stories but you will find some good advice and everlasting truths. I would strongly encourage this action then come back and we can discuss the issues within the Bible more intelligently.

Catholics Are Christians. Messiah is the One and Only Son from God the Father. Not just Prophet, but also Priest, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Holy Father, Creator, Lamb, Mediator. Jesus Christ is Messiah, the One and Only. Jesus is God, The Word, the Maker, along with God the Father and the Holy Spirit of God. Without becoming a faithful believer, you could not understand it, however. The Spirit is required for enlightenment.

Messiah is an Aramic word meaning the anointed. It is used as the title of an office, it denotes the King and Deliverer whose coming the Jews were eagerly expecting. In the New Testament the deliverer is called the Christ, which is the Greek equivalent of Messiah, and Jesus the Messiah is called Jesus the Christ, Jesus Christ, or Christ Jesus.
He was half human (because he was born to a mortal woman)and half God, being conceived "of the Holy Ghost" (St. Matthew 1:20). Being both enabled Him to die a mortal death and also rise up from the dead.
Jesus Christ is a God. The Bible talks of three Gods: God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

The true Christian doctrine on this is that Jesus Christ is both fully God (the Second Person of the Holy Trinity - i.e. the Son, of the same essence and equal to the Father and the Holy Spirit), AND fully man. He is both God and man at the same time. He is the incarnation of God through the Virgin Mary and is of both natures (divine and human) in one and the same Person. So it is not correct to say that he is just a man - but he is a man; and it is equally incorrect to say that he is only God, although he is fully God. It is something that is not possible for the human mind to fully comprehend, how someone can be both God and man at the same time - but this is Jesus Christ, the unique communion of God with His creation in one and the same Person. In Greek, the original language of the New Testament and of the important theological works of the early period of Christianity in which these doctrines were articulated (not made up or deduced, but revealed by Christ Himself and by the Holy Spirit to the Church), he is called "theanthropos" - literally, "God-man".
As for whether or not Jesus was a Prophet, in his human nature, yes, he was. However in his divine nature, as God, He also knows everything. However, these two natures while never separate are also never confused - so it is proper to speak of Jesus as a prophet. But one cannot limit the discussion to that, since he is God.
I hope this helps and does not confuse you!

I'm a Christian, and I'm glad you're interested. The exact definition of Messiah (Merriam-Webster version) is the expected king and deliverer of the Jews, otherwise known as Jesus. It also means "anointed one".
You're exactly right, he was 100% man, and at the same time He was/is 100% God. I know, it's confusing, at least I was when I first heard that from my pastor. But what it means, is that Jesus was sent by God to earth, and in order to truly save us, he had to go through life as a human and be tempted and face everything we have and will face. He also had to be completely perfect in order for God the Father's plan to work. That's only part of God's plan, though. You are part of His plan; every person in the world is, because we affect everyone.
Yeah, I think I should stop now, because this is sounding really corny. Sorry 'bout that...
I'll be praying for you, and I hope you find what you're looking for.

Jesus was God's Only Begotten Son. Adam was God's Created Son.
When Jesus was born of a virgin he was God's Son a human being
capable of suffering death the difference between Jesus and me or
you is that God's Blood flowed in his veins NOT Adams blood that
has a sin nature that we all have because it was passed down from
Adam to us.Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:.That is why Jesus had to be born of a virgin.A human
mother (Mary) and God was his FATHER. When Jesus went to Calvary
and gave his life and God's Blood it settled our sin debt from Adam
until the last person dies. The Only Way anybody can be saved is by
FAITH believe that Jesus finished work on Calvary will save you. When
you simply TRUST JESUS to save you he will.Joh 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Jesus was a Prophet a King and High Priest.

Catholics are Christians...(i'm not Catholic, btw)
''Christian'' believe Jesus Christ is God.
Any Bible believing Christian cannot look past the verse Colossians 2:9 which states; "For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,"
Anyone claiming to be Christian, and yet deny the deity of Christ is just a Christian in name only. How can you claim to be a "follower of Christ" if you deny His Soveriegn deity? (It makes no sense.)
It's true - that he also was a 'prophet.'
Another commonly mis-understood definition. A "prophet" is someone who "forthtells" (not 'fore tells')... And Christ certainly did 'forthtell' God's teachings/commands...
He just happen to be God in 'human form'
I hope this helps.
God Bless.

According to the Bible, God looked upon the earth for someone worthy to die for our sins. No one was able, so he sent a form of himself down through the line of David to Mary. She gave birth to a child Jesus who is the Messiah that we could see and others could witness. God so loved the world that He gave the world his son. When Jesus was crucified, he rose again and transcended the world to rejoin his father, or his original self. God, Jesus, and the holy spirit are all water from the same source.

This is an important question, the answer to which has led to breaks in religions. Jesus was / is both God and man - fully each both at the same time. Here is not an easy place to explain it in detail, but one of the references for this is the beginning John's Gospel when it says "in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God." Email or IM me for more if you wish.
