Well, we really need more details to give an accurate answer. I don't know why your dad doesn't want to come to Hawaii to watch your competition. Maybe he feels he can't afford the trip and is sacrificing for your benefit. You need to talk to him and find out for yourself. Unless you have communication you will never really know for yourself. When you talk to him put your desires aside for the moment and forget that he is your dad. Listen to him as you would a friend and try to see his side of it. Good luck honey.

Well, if that happens, you are still going to skate, are you not?

You better. To go into a competition means that you really like the sport.

Your father may be engaged or that he wants you to be there without him, and to be able to hold on.

Your father must have his own way of thinking. Perhaps he cannot afford the trip or that he is planning to surprise you?

No matter what, skate to your best ability. On ice, it's only YOU who matters.

You will be hurt of course if he doesn't turn up but being hurt doesnt help. Focus that negative energy to something positive. Make your performance spectacular; Make him proud of you.

By the way, don't listen to whatever-his/her-name. Your father not being there doesn't mean that he doesn't love you. Love isn't so simple. Trust in your father, okay?

Don't worry about your dad not attending the competiton. Usually, men are more interested in other sports besides skating. I can count on my hand how many times my dad ever came to the rink....it was always my mom when I competed.

Skate because you love it and skate for yourself....not anyone else!

Good luck in competition and kick butt!

Just out of curiosity, when is the competition and where is it going to take place? Maybe I can come and watch you.
As for your question:
Skate as though he was there, skate like you've never skated before and make that ice melt. My friend, no one can take that experience from you. Whatever you come away with will be your gain... and your father's loss. It's alright to feel bitter and sad about his absence and holding this against him is understandable, but never lose your love for your father.

Your dad will be missing out if he doesn't go to Hawaii with you and watch you compete!! I wish my dad had still been alive, when I was still young!!
