Sweetie, you are young. He is young...boys have to act and look cool in front of their friends...You need to understand that first and foremost. When they get older they will mature and that behavior will NOT be acceptable then. But in JHS it is normal.....as long as he is sweet to you and he doesn't try to push you into anything you don't want to do so he has more to brag about then give the movies a shot.....be a mature girl, the younger you start the better and easier it is in later years! Ask him yourself to the movies. See what he says and how he reacts but ask him alone, not when he is around friends. And try to talk to him more when he is alone than when he is surrounded by his buds....he will be less likely to hurt your feelings. And remember when boys are around friends they have to act "cool" so they aren't teased! Boys can be mean! But if he gets too mean, ditch him before it's too late! Good luck hon!!
And to ask him...just walk up to him, face to face and ask him if he would like to go to the movies with you. If you write it in a note he will show it to his buddies and it could become a big joke....if you ask face to face it is his word against yours......FACE TO FACE!!!! Alone! Maybe even over the phone......Good luck!! And I hope I helped at least a little!!! babybrow_01@yahoo.com

Guys have a wierd mentality. When I first started dating, I was in middle school - when I was around my friends, I didn't want to act "mushy" around them and get teased for it later. We've all done it - if he acts all sweet and cute around you, it's most likely because of that reason. I would start by sending him an e-mail (if he has one) and see if maybe he would go to the movies with you. You never know! In this day and age, it isn't uncommon for a girl to ask a guy out - try it and see, but if he rejects the offer, move on - you can always do better for yourself. You have plenty of time. =)

That's an awkward age, especially for boys. He probably just hasn't figured out how to deal with the whole girl thing yet (which includes in front of his friends). I wouldn't say there's likely any disguise going on. When you're alone and he's all sweet and cute, ask him if he wants to hang out sometime.

Young lady, if he treats you different around his friends and does not call you then I would ask someone else to the movies. You are young and sure will learn about guys. I am a guy and I sure know the pressure male friends can put on a guy when they want. He wants to be cool with them and sweet with you and awkworrd with you around his friends, I think you answered your own question. A real guy would not treat you any wau but sweet even around his friends. your young keep looking OK?

it is a disguise--at that age boys are really uncomfortable about this sort of thing--even if they really like you--and even sit home dreaming about you. Also at that age they depend a lot on the support of their friends--who are usually social klutzes as well. I suggest you make the first move in asking him to do something with you--he will most likely jump at the opportunity.

aSK HIM IN FRONT OF HIS FRIEND CAUSE IF HE REALLY LIKES YOU, HE WILL SAY YES RIGHT THERE AND THEN AND NOT act like a jackass. Make that test first because if he fails to choose you, he is going to treat you like worthless crap alot more times. Make that test first, if he fails. H e will basically show he will be a hypocritical boyfriend, which is no good.

ok people she is only like 13 years old its not like its a serious relationship. I think you should ask him if a couple of his friends would like to get together with a couple of your friends and then it would not seem to awkward. when you are all together then you can flirt a lil with him and see how he responds.
