If I ever had a kid, I would want to have a clone of myself. I'm not crazy, just think, you would know that person very well, understand their problems and difficulties very well. It would be amazing. Does anyone see a downside to this idea?

You have an interesting point. People keep procreating anyway,
why not keep yourself on planet Earth indefinitely?
It might be a good idea to have a video diary of things that went
wrong, so when your teenager gets rebellious, just show the
video & say "if you want to do that, check out the consequences!"

It will be like watching the future of one's self & may solve the
need for disipline.

The kid would have been raised different. He would start out like a baby and grow just like any other kid. Since he didn't have your education, your experiences, or grew up like you, it would be like any other adult with his kid. They would know virtually nothing unless their kid told them or they found out themselves. There would be a chance that he was like you a little, you where his parent so of course, kids take on some of their parents likes & dislikes but everything wouldn't be totally the same. You could have been a troublemaker while he could have been a bookworm or that gothic kid. Since clones start out as babies like real humans, they wouldn't be total clones because they would have different experiences.
If it wasn't like that, it would be a problem since he was a clone of you. Meaning the same size, age, and all that other stuff. One of you could take an advantage of that since the both of you will be mixed up. DNA and everything so the evidence like a hair will point to the two of you. Ifd they happened to find you first and not the clone, then it's you going to jail, not the clone.

You could argue with yourself and lose. Actually, the late Isaac Asimov wrote a song on the topic, still sung at many science fiction conventions (to the tune of Home on the Range):

Clone, clone of my own
With the Y chromosome turned to X
We've achieved, so it seems
Two of Man's greatest dreams
Solar power and zero-gee-sex!

Well, first off, you'd miss out on the experience of getting to know a kid who is kind of like you, kind of like your partner, and kind of like no one you've ever met.

Second, if you're like most people, you probably don't know yourself as well as you think you do, and knowing yourself now doesn't mean you'll remember what you were going through at any given time. I really doubt that having a baby just like you will be any help in knowing whether your clone is teething, hungry, wet, or just tired.
