I am an experienced runner, and yes, i know exactly what the problem is.

You have tight IT bands...particularly in the left leg. Look it up. For men, its displays itself like 90% of the time on the outer side of the knee, for women, its a classic hip pain. The insertion points for the IT are the side of the knee and the hip. The angle of leg vs hip is different for men than women, and that is why is displays itself differently in the two sexes.

Classic classic IT band syndrome: stops the minute i stop running. Hurts when i go DOWN the stairs, but not that much when i go UP the stairs.

So, what do you do? Well, you loosen your IT bands before and after running. Buy a foam roller

and learn to roll your calfs, ITs, and quads. Do this for 2 minutes when you wake up, 2 minutes before bed. It hurts like hell at first....but will make a huge difference in about 7 days.

DON'T stretch the IT by leaning against the wall or any of the other ways people recommend. It can injure...and it is not nearly as effective as rolling it out.

This is ABSOLUTELY solvable. It will be ongoing though...so you need to always roll. If you don't, it will return.

It is not your shoes, it is not tension (other than tight ITB). It is a correctable issue.

good luck.....

First and foremost, always stop and walk a bit if you experience any pain that you can't ignore; don't try to run through it. Sometimes just walking a tenth of a mile helps enormously and can let you run farther than if you'd have tried to run through it. You also have less of a chance of injuring yourself.

I used to get pains in my knees and thighs, but they went away with more stretching before and after my runs. Try stretching more.

It may also be your shoes. Sometimes it doesn't matter how good your shoes feel in the store. I've sworn that a pair was perfect for my feet, and the first time I ran in them, I got blisters the size of dinner plates on my feet. Experiment with shoes: try buying a different pair and running on a treadmill (so as not to get the shoes dirty, so if you don't like them you can return them) to test them out. Eventually, you'll find the perfect shoe.

Or, it may be your feet. My feet are very flat (my dad calls them pancake feet), and my knees therefore "cave in" without shoes that have arch support. If your feet are flat like mine, then make sure your shoes have enough support. If they do, you should be able to take the toe and heal of the sneaker and not be able to bend it.

I'm not a true runner but by playing soccer for many years I've had my share of pains. I played with knee pain for years until I saw my chiropractor about it. He said it was flat feet and that the pain was due to my legs not being at the right angles. Got custom orthotics (not the cheapy Wallyworld ones). Set me back a pretty penny but they helped tremendously. No more icing at after games and I can sleep at night. Also, saw someone saying about taking it easy. That might be a possiblity. If it hurts down up there you might have stretched something too much or overworked it. Most likely, this is your cause. If all else fails, a good chiro is more reliable than you think (and not just for your back).

I'm not sure. Try stretching (maybe sit down and put your left ankle on your right knee and lean forward) and doing a warm-up and cool-down. Sometimes your body needs to adapt and get used to a new stressor upon it. When I started running, I was in severe pain for about two weeks until everything felt fine. Just keep it up and if it continues, seek professional help.

Temporary? Stop when U feel pain. Seriously, if U want 2 continue to run, see a sports medicine specialist. My sports med doc told me "Usually, when there's pain, that means stop." But, I had run 17 miles, with the pain coming on and throughout the last mile. I was determined to finish, and my doc said that when the pain started is when I should've called it a day.

Definitely depart your mother. If a guardian is competent to shrug you off that without problems for his or her boyfriend they don't seem to be a well guardian. Because I have an overly bad dating with my mother, I would possibly correct a tad greater than I more commonly do for this query. First off, I don't realize your soreness, I is not going to faux to both. All that I admit to grasp is that you're going by way of an overly rough time, I are not able to think what it have to be like on your mother not to consider you on any such horrible occasion. The something that you simply have to take into account consistently is that despite the fact that your mother has given beginning to you, she is just a man or woman, she is not anything extra. She is not a paranormal feminine being that are meant to be revered with each and every motion that she takes. She is valued at handiest up to she makes herself valued at. The cause why we keep our mothers and fathers in such top regards as we do is considering the fact that they have got faithful a tremendous period of time to us after we had been youngsters to take a look at and support us by way of lifestyles. There does come a time despite the fact that while a guardian will have to be forgiven in their helpfulness of the beyond and dealt with with the depraved approaches in their reward. Would you depart or de-pal some other man or woman who has dealt with you this manner? IF the reply is sure, there's no cause why you will have to deal with your mother any specific. In a few instances, and there is also greater than you watched, humans stay near with their mothers and fathers despite the fact that the guardian abuses them considering the fact that they consider they have got vigour over their kids. This is handiest the case in case you permit or not it's. Leave your mother as you might any one else to your lifestyles, she is not more designated than some other being in the market, correctly, for her movements, she is so much surely much less of a being than so much in the market. Your boyfriend loves you, your mother does not consider you on what might feasible be essentially the most annoying occasion to your lifestyles. Stay with the only's you're keen on. It is also heartbreaking to depart your mother as I am guessing you're beneath the affect of her being a man or woman you'll continually anticipate, if this is the case, that assertion is fake. Do what makes you joyful, be the joyful man or woman that you'll be.
