Why do some Christians act as if you are not a Republican, you are not a Christian? I am a Democrat who gets Christians annoyed at me for being a Democrat.

Jesus did not grow up in a Republican or Democratic society, so why do Christians act this way?

a lot of republicans will let politics rule over religion. I said a lot of them, not all of them. why? money.
It takes money to be a die-hard republican first of all.

Religion comes next as long as it doesn't interfere.

Don't confuse my answer with little republicans with a $100,000.00 in savings. I'm talking BIG money.

The ones that only wish they had it, really don't. They have a lot of credit. The Rich never brag about it, they don't have to.

forgive me for being cynical about it, but a lot of it has to do with pure political strategy...the republicans have had no qualms about using Christians to gain and hold political power, regardless of how they exercise that power once they have it...it's a simple formula, really...'we are good, we love God, so by default the other side must hate God"...it works because our society is intellectually lazy...rather than do some reading and some thinking, we would prefer someone to do it for us. think about it-the Republicans have people like Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, and Bill O' Reilly speaking for them-and the last President we had who lived (not just spoke) the Christian way was Jimmy Carter, and until Clinton came along, he was the President most vilified by the so-called "Christian Right"...so, i wouldn't worry too much-if your faith causes you to be a Democrat, then there's nothing wrong with that...or a Republican, or Independent, or whatever...just remember that Christ transcends politics...long after the Republicans and Democrats go the way of the Whigs, the Know-Nothings, the Bull Moose party, or the Mugwumps, Christ will still be there...

You are right. Everyone should be able to choose their own politics and not be criticized for it, especially from christians. Remind them that Paul was not only part of the Sandhedren, he was also a Roman. Talk about a conflict. He was a Christian killer and was called to the ministry. So don't let the shortcomings of others to interfere with your faith, that is their problem to deal with and they will one day. Besides, as a Republican; I want as many christian democrats voting as possible. It can only be a good thing for everyone. In reality it seems that those people that don't believe in God or anything of value are the ones that are drawn to the Democratic Party. I think it has to do more with the fact that it is more tolerent of their behavior. This is not an all inclusive statement, but an observance of my own. My faith is very personal to me and does not allow me to bend in certain areas, because of this ; the political party I have chosen (though not even perfect) is better suited for me. My religion is very unapologetic about God's word and our practice of same. We are very tolerent of others beliefs and lifestyles, but do not try to force it onto us. God's word is sacred and politics is not.

I am a Christian who declares myself to be an independent voter. I long for the day when I can find a democrat who will stand against abortion and homosexual marriage. Until then, I gotta stick with the goofy old republicans. Unfortunately I HAVE to vote on the issues the bible is clear about such as killing unborn babies and gay marriage. If the candidates both agree with the bible on the clear points then I feel free to vote my conscience regarding the economy or global warming or whatever other issues there are.

I think it might possibly have to do with what the political party stands for.

For instance, in general, do democrats believe in abortion? Many Christians feel that abortion is wrong, and would oppose this stand.

You need to ask yourself what exactly does the political party (Democrats, in this case) actually stand for on different moral issues, then determine what the Bible says about these same moral issues.

I believe that this might be the possible cause for Christians saying that if you don't belong to this, or if you do belong to that, then you're not a Christian.

Just my thoughts.

Because if you study the issues and endorsements of the two parties, you will find that there are a lot more Christian republicans than democrats.

I don't. I'm a republican, but I don't discriminate against Christian Democrats, because we are one body and we should not fight with each other when we have so much more we're up against. I believe some people are bigoted, maybe even unrealizing that they are, ignorent because of their background.

Because alot of what democrats stand for is against Christianity, support of abotion, support for gay marriage, against the war,,,,,blah blah blah.
I'm not saying I agree. Its like lumping everyone into one group or another, and turning away from the gray area. Religion and politics is very gray.

Because being liberal is of the Devil. Don't worry. It's usually only Fundies that think being democrat means you really aren't Christian. And we all know how bad fundies are.
