Because most are not based on the Word of God and have been led astray by false teachers.

I think there are so many different religions as a result of different social values and mores. And that the reason there are a lot of different Christian offshoots is because some people may not totally agree with the rules, policies, procedures and etc of the Christian religion they may have once practiced.

Personally, I believe there is no real God and that all or most religions are actually worshiping the same spiritual being. I don't believe in religion. I believe in spirituality.

They are basing their religion on the Bible, which was in fact written by man, who is undeniably fallible.
It has been translated many times over the last few thousand years, each time, I do believe it lost something in translation.
What the Bible says always means something a bit different, and is interpreted a bit different, by each individual. It is the same way with anything-reading a book, seeing a movie, seeing a crime committed. Each witness will tell the story differently, even though they saw the same thing.

I am of the Christian Faith. Those who truly follow Christ do not practice "religion". As to the differences between Christian denominations... it is mans ego interfering...

There is only one Church and Jesus The Christ is The Head.

Because religions, traditions and rituals were man's idea, not god's. Most of us do not hear god when he speaks to us. We are not paying attention; we don't know how to listen. We listen to the wrong things, things that are not of god. Things have never been right, they have always been wrong. They will right themselves, though, for THAT is the glory of god.

Most people are not being taught by God, they are taught by imperfect people trying to reach God.

They do it imperfectly, thus there is difference.

There are so many interpretations of the bible that so many don't see it one way. The Catholics try to figure things out that aren't in the bible. Catholics schools teach evolution for example. Then there is tradition and emphasis, prophets that start their own sects for example.

Because religion was created by man and it is basically a form of licensed conceit.

Faith in something is what keeps us all alive. Lose your faith and your loss will be greater than you once thought. Like quicksand, your heart will sink.
