First things first, if you took the raw materials of say a space ship and put them together in a container what are the chances of you mixing them up and out popping a space ship, none, you had a designer, second if you took a look at the laws of most including this one the USA you would find that The Ten commandments are the baises for all laws in this country, in fact you would not want to live where they are not, life there is not worth living so if the ten commandments are true the rest of the Bible is, now about what you SAY you believe in, of all the knowledge you could have of all that which you are clueless about which if you are honest is a lot can God live there? In fact God is real, we look in space for A brain we can talk to, God is looking here for the same thing. we live in A world where everyone dies, and Jesus the second member of the God head is the only Way out, that is why, investagate the claims of The Bible. www.itiswritten for a free Bible course. E. They are based off of a religion made by men to control men. If god loved you, and gave you free will, well if anything they say of him was true, it would contradict fact and itself. It has all of the makings of a dictatorship, don't ask questions, do as you are told or burn in hell, and the church is the only thing that can tell you gods will (this gives total power).I can't take enough time to explain, there are too many reasons. Basic research from good sources can explain.

Everyone 's beliefs are based on something. The questions are
1. What are your beliefs based upon?
2. Why are they based upon that?
3. How do you know that is a good basis for your beliefs?
1. The Christians belief is based unpon the Bible.
2. Because the Bible is a reliable historical document that has stood the test of time and makes sense, unlike a fable or mythology.
3. There is overwhelming evidencial evidence for the trustworthyness of the Bible compared to other religious texts.

I'm saying C. People really believe in churchianity! I think most of us are just sheep enough to look for a shepherd....ANY SHEPHERD. So a minister quotes, correctly, some scripture. We check the Bible and see that scripture and most stop thinking right there. What most don't seem to realise is that the minister left out scripture that contradicts the "doctrine" of his particular church.

C. Incorrect teachings from church leaders.
I say this because so much of the Christian faith is steeped in tradition. As traditions are handed down, from time to time, things are purposely or accidentally added to or taken away. While the object of the Christian faith is infallible, the practicers of the faith are quite imperfect

I'm gonna say other because it's all of the above, really. You can't lump everyone into one group and say 'why?' because within that group are tons of individuals with different reasons. Some are really wanting to get at the truth of it and some just wanna go with the flow and not have to think to much about it.

E. Fear

Fear that they do not have all the answers and that the universe is virtually a mystery without explanation. Which is why no two christians can agree completely on their dogma; they "interpret" what ever makews them feel the safest and most comfortable.

For me, A,B and D. I follow the bible, choose Christ from my personal desire to know him, and have faith in those things.

For many though, it is likley A and C. The hard core religious right, more likley C than anything else.
