I constantly hear people say that children are a gift from God. If all children are a gift, why do some people look down on children that were born out of wedlock? Aren't those children God's gift as well? Isn't God the one that chooses who to bless with a child?

Ok, let me explain, my fiance and I have 2 children together. The people that go to church with his mom look down at the situation. We don't have the money to get married right now but we will as soon as we can afford it. Our kids are loved very much and they are very much provided for.

I forgot to mention, both children were concieved while I was on birth control, to me it just feels that God had this planned for me.

Martin, the delay is not having the money for the marriage license until I start working again. I go back in 2 weeks then within a month we'll be able to afford it. We've been together nearly 4 years and just keep running into problems.

YES!! They ARE gifts from GOD!
Be they illegitimates, legitimates or any child, is a gift from GOD.
The only thing that seperates the illigitmates and the legitmates, is the piece of paper that thier Mothers and Fathers neglected to get, because of some silly nonesense that if they get "married" they will not love each other as much! Or, some other silly nonesensical notion on marriage.
Children should be LOVED, not abused.
Nor should they be scraped out of a Womans Womb, in to a sink drain!!
People who dont hold the sanctity of marriage sacred, and devalue children, by ABORTION, will soon realize that they too, will be devalued when they get older, and are tossed away like scrap on a heap, as they are no longer worthful to a Society that only values those that can contriubute to it.
Devalue our Children, and they will Devalue YOU!

I'm not a real big believer but i think children are gifts and if the 2 people aren't married that really doesn't matter.... because if was a 1 night stand kind of thing the child is there to teach the guy and the girl a lesson. so there for the child is a gift. a gift of growing up a gift of learning

In fact everything is a gift from God.
Job, for example is a person in the Bible that realized everything is a gift from God. So, when those things were taken from him, he said in
Job 1:21
"Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised."
So, your children, your fiance, and your future marriage if you have it, and even your life are gifts from God.
Don't worry too much about what other people think about your children. What mistakes that happened in the past you cannot change.
In Philippians 4:6-7 says
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
So, if you've got any concern just talk to God who is the giver of your life and your children.
May the peace of God be with you, as He promised in His Word.

You make a good point. If I were a rape victim and became pregnant as the result of the rape,the child would not feel like a gift to me,however if I put the baby up for adoption to a couple that desperately want a baby,and can not have one of their own,my (unwanted baby) would be a God given gift to that couple.
So yes I feel that all babies,even those the mother does not want herself are gifts from God,for someone.

Oh hon, we do not look down on the child, we just know the problems that can be created for a child of a single parent. No one should ever blame the child for the mistake of the parent.
Although the child winds up paying the price.

All of us were gifts of God. Because were children of God. Our parents are also children of their parents, and their parents are children of their parents' parents and so forth. So, all of us are gifts of God.
Maybe they do it because they have sertain reason to do that thing. For example, Her child is cause of rape, prostitutiuon and other worst thing that may happen. Or also they only inhabited it bad manner to their own parents also, so they do the same thing to their children. Their is also a possibility that those parents have a big problem and they pass it to their children. Also, maybe they are adopted child.
But for me, God has a plan for those children. And they will feel the happiness they want to feel.

I don't think people really look down on the child it the qadults fault. regardless of how the child got here all children are worth having. It what the parent does after that.

People are mean and don't know that they hurt themselves not the child by acting that way. God blesses every child and he is not a respecter of persons.

I believe that all children are a special gift from God. I have two wonderful children one boy, and a girl. I Take pride in my children BECAUSE
God made them!!!!

God said that anyone who accepts and loves a child, loves him. God wants us to love him as one loves a new born baby.
