Well personally I like a girl who I have a lot in common with, and who I always enjoy being around. The girl I am with now, has many things that I enjoy. She is someone I always have a good time with, and who can always bring a smile to me, not matter what has just happened. I mean looks play some part, because I am not looking for a goth, or the ugliest girl in the world. More of what I look for is in the personality. If you are trying to impress a guy, be yourself, and if likes that then you guys are perfect together. If it doesn't work out like that, then I would just move on, I know that it may seem hard or a little wierd but you need to find someone who will want to be with for you, not for how you look. Create the attraction and draw the attention. You need to be well groomed (hair, nails, makeup, etc.) and well dressed. Men are easily turned off by acne. Make sure your body is shapely and fit, but not muscular (yuck!). Also, please don't think skinny is good. All men of quality like curves, not bones. Fake tans are disgusting. Just make sure that your skin is creamed. Don't dye your hair, just make sure that it shines nicely and is long, at least shoulder length. Your clothes should vary from day to day, but it should never be too slutty or too conservative. If you have a big forehead, your hairstlye should cover that up. High ponytails are extremely sexy, but only if you have the right hairline for it. Wearing glasses will not make you any less sexy unless you think it does. If you think it does, it wil show in your self-conciousness. In fact, a lot of girls look better with some plastic-frame glasses. You should also walk with a strut. It will seem weird at first, but a strut conveys confidence and sensuality.
As far as your personality, it should be balanced. You should have charisma and carry interesting conversations, but don't overdo it or else you'll be seen as a clown. Be calm all the time and as witty as possible. Whatever you do, don't be a loner. Men are attracted to women who have a close circle of friends. Your friends, don't even have to be that attractive, just make sure that you are seen with them.
Men of quality want quality women as their girlfriends. Have a life, and that doesn't just mean going to bars and malls. Do anything extracurricular that you like, play a sport, work, paint, dance, just get out there and do it. But just being good-looking and sweet won't cut the mustard. If you like a guy, simply make eye contact and smile, and he will come over and start a conversation.

Give him your attention. That's usually the most impressive thing a girl does for me at first. Beyond that, a little physical interaction, like a hand on the shoulder or a hug, goes a long way.

yeah..... there's your first mistake. TRYING to be impressive.
All too often girls pretend to be someone they are not to get a guy to fall for them. A few months go by and the girl gets tired of holding up the act. Then the real you comes out. The guy is caught off guard because you weren't like this a few weeks ago... what the hell happened to THAT girl? Then you guys break up. You're mad because he wanted you to be someone you're not and he's upset because he misses the girl you PRETENDED to be.
In short, be yourself. I would rather be hated for who I am then loved for who i'm not.
