Britain owned the land as a colony and established Israel an Palestine as two separate countries. Palestine declared war with Israel and lost. If you have a solution as to how Ha-mas can accept and recognize Israel you probably will win the Nobel peace prize,. This can be stopped, and could have been avoided. Give the kidnapped soldier back, stop firing homemade rockets, and you will no longer be attacked it is that simple. Had Hamas not kidnapped the soldier this would have never happened so if there is a need for blame then blame Hamas. Palestine does not own 100% of the land Israel is on and that attitude is what is keeping tensions in the area. Move on there is enough room for Palestine and Israel, why does Palestine require all of the land? They can not even exist without aide on the land they have now how would they manage all of the territory. You can't kidnap someone & trade for prisoners. If Isreal allowed that, then everyone with a realtive in jail would kidnap a soldier. I think they are overreacting, but they must stand firm & never negotiate with people using terrorist tactics. There are ways for Palistinians to win victories over the Israelis, but when they choose these tactics they've already lost & don't know it yet.

The US has strongly urged Israel to give diplomacy a chance, or at least to gain intelligence on the whereabouts of their soldier & launch a special operations resuce along with military action to kill or capture those responsible. An invasion just when they were making great progress seems like a bad decision by the Israelis. I hope things are resolved quickly, and that palestine can get its self together so everyone can come back to the peace table. The land Israel is on did once belong to Palestine, and before that to the jews & before that to neither. There must be a way now for everyone to live in peace with a country of their own.

I think the Israelis would differ. The Palestinians could stop the invasion by giving back the soldier, and maybe stop killing innocent women and children with terrorist attacks. Yes, the Israelis are also guilty of killing innocent people by trying to kill terrorist leaders, but those very same terrorist leaders are cowards and willingly hide among their own women and children. Because the Palestinians have always rejected a Jewish Homeland and have said that they want all Jews dead, how would your react if that was your people. How about if 6 million of your people were murdered in WWII, and then the people you have been sent to live with, sanctioned by the UN, started killing your people, and saying all Arabs should die, and be pushed into the Ocean, how would you react? Palestinians and Israelis have a common heritage, as they are both Semites, they differ in the way they worship God, that's it. The Israelites were also there first, (Read any History Book) , and they were taken away, and subjugated by several different nations over time. They have what is known as "Right of Return", and it is their homeland, as well as Palestinians. Hamas has brought this on themselves by attacking, killing and kidnapping an Israeli soldier, and they were given a chance to stop this if they only had the guts to hand this soldier back. They didn't, and this is their own fault. To bad, because inevitably, innocent people will get caught in the crossfire, and Hamas doesn't seem to care. What would you do if you were in the Israeli's place?

This is an easy equation. Hamas executes two soldiers who are merely at a post (not in a combat situation). They capture a Israeli soldier. They execute an Israeli settler.
