How much rain fell in Virginia during Hurricane Isabel compared to the past 3 days?

We got about 4-8 inches of rain in Isabel, depending on where in the area you were, and this storm brought 7-12 inches of rain or more. One of the big differences was the intensity this time around; during Isabel, it was a steady, soaking rain for the whole event, while this storm brought periods with no rain then a period of very intense rain, and back and forth. Both did lots of damage but the massive downpours are a lot harder on storm drains, levees and dams so we kind of had the worst of both worlds.

I have no idea about Hurricane Isabel...but we have had betwen 7-11" of rain (depending on what areas)
