I don't know about cigarettes, but alcohol gets better the longer it is aged.

Cigarettes have a "freshness" period and will become stale if left out too long, especially in the heat. Check the carton or pack for a "coded" freshness date. To keep cigs fresh longer, stick the unused pack in the freezer. I am not a cig expert though.
Spirits don't spoil once they are in the bottle. Spirits only age in barrels. They DO NOT get any better with time once they have been bottled. You may experience evaporation over a LONG period of time, but, generally that vodka or bourbon should taste the same today as it will 15 years from now.

Most spirits do not go bad with time
Cigarettes have codes that the representatives from the tobacco companies know how to read and when they make their regular visits to the retailers, these codes are checked and product that is getting old is replaced or credited. This ensures that the product on the shelf is always fresh

Budweiser has a "Born On" date, so you know when it was manufactured. Fresh beer tastes best, so the closer it is to the "Born On" date, the fresher, and better tasting it is. As far as spirits, I assume good ones get better with age as long as they're not exposed to light and air. Cigs are good as long as they're not opened, once you open em they can go stale if you hang on to em too long.

Don't know about cigarettes, but if a bottle of liquor has not been opened, it won't go stale. The alcohol content is high enough that it just won't happen.

normally the could be finished before the expiry date. Beside why do we need an expiry date when the people realize whether its still good or gone bad that things will still do harm for their health???

Becuase they are posionus to start with, keeping them longer isn't going to do a whole lot more to you :P
Alcohal is a poison, actually it's a toxin. so it doesn't matter much if it's old or not, it get more powerful with age.
