first you need to knock on your neibors door and when they answer make sure your have a ham sandwich and start eating it in slow motion when your done with the sandwich climb a tree with a fishing pole and with some nuts and start trying to catch squirls for and hour in an half and then go to the store and buy a toy lightsaber and when you get back to your house hold it and point it up to the sky and start yelling your battle cry for 30 seconds and then you should be a god

Wow, amazing that you have actually contemplated this question. In general, it seems people tend to acquire traits, or reflect characteristics of their family, friends and those they hang out with. So, if you weren't already born into a celestial/mythological family of gods.....you best be getting your butt to Mt. Olympus or some spot where the other gods like to hang out. As far as the "mighty" goes, you'll probably need to work out at a gym or just BATTLE one of the other gods for position.

P.S. It might help if you were struck by lightning, obtained some freak cool powers, or just found Thor's hammer.....just some ideas

Mormons believe that the worthy will become gods in the afterlife. I don't know of other religions that claim that you can become a god, but I'm sure that there must be some because the secret behind all religions is that you are God.
