parakeets will eat only when they are hungry, if you feel that they are eating no stop and eating way to much than cut back on the food, don't remove completely but put in less and make sure that they are getting fruits and veggies in their diet as well, not just treats. also, another thing you can give them is whole wheat cereal, you know the cereal that is square in shape and is whole wheat. no sugar on it or anything. I ground up the cereal and put it in their food and they just love it. By the way, I have 2 parakeets. Make sure they have plenty to keep them occupied as well, bordom will cause them to eat more as well. if all this doesn't help, than I would suggest seeing a vet for them, there maybe another reason. Good luck.

Well, don't keep filling up his food dish. Fill it in the morning, and in the evening, but don't fill it right after he finishes. Birds and such animals don't know when to stop eating if it's always there for them.

If he's getting overweight, change feeding him to just the morning, and see how that does.

Is he acting strange? He might be sick

If a bird is over eating that usually means its bored.

Give your bird a new toy or more social interaction with you or both
