I am Christian but I do not preach to people because it is annoying. I hate being preached by mormons. I am outside in peace and then these two business-looking guys come to me on bikes and they have helmets on and they start preaching about mormonism. Atheists need to stop telling negative things about our religion but that won't happen because there are also Christians who preach to Atheists. Everyone stop PREACHING! If someone wants to follow a religion then THEY will come to YOU. Preaching about your beliefs makes everyone who shares your beliefs look bad. I want you to tell me what group of people have been preaching to you the most? Also, have YOU ever preached to anyone, if yes explain your reasons for doing it? If you preach, what makes you think you will be successful in converting people into believing what you believe?

Ok. I am Christian so I believe in God and Jesus. Yeah I know those versus in the bible but I don't agree with God on that one. (yeah, that's right God I disagree with you, lets debate! :-D) I only preach to people who ASK for it. Besides, unlike most Christians I do not fear God or Satan. Sure they are powerful but I do not mind disagreeing with either of them. I think of God as my boss; I try my best to satisfy him but I sometimes have to disagree with him. We call him our Father, and that is how I treat him, like a father. Like a father, I sometimes rebel against him but nevertheless I love him. And preaching people who do not want to be preached is one command that I refuse to follow. Ask yourself this fellow Christians, do you like it when Atheists preach to you without your consent?

This is the all I am asking in my question: Why can't we all just keep our beliefs to ourselves? For example: keep christianity within christians, mormonism within mormons, atheism within atheists and so on. If somone wants to join you in your beliefs good but if not, oh well, more will come. My best friend is an atheist and we do not let our beliefs get in the way of our friendship because we do not preach each other. You think because people do not believe in God they won't go to heaven? If an atheist has lived a good clean life why should he go to hell just because he does not believe in God? Would God send a decent person to hell? Stop tyring to convert people, let people believe what they want to believe.

Amen. People keep on saying that their religion is true without any evidence besides quoting the Bible. Of course the Bible's going to say there is a God. It's a religious book. If someone can find evidence that a religion is true without using something obviously biased, I'll listen, but otherwise, nobody can say their religion is the truth and be justified. I don't mind you liking your religion, but you have no right to tell me I'm wrong if your only evidence is coming from your Bible or ethnocentrism.

Yes, I "preach to people" how can you say that we shouldn't witness when the Bible says to " Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature". I believe that I will be successful because the Bible also says " how shall hear without a preacher". In other words how is anyone going to learn about Jesus if there is no one to tell them of Him?

I am sure glad no-one convinced the disciples to do what you are saying. All christians are called to the Great Commission. If they are pushy or rude, contact the organization they represent. Christians are not supposed to behave that way and they know it.
I am not rude to those that reach out to me in the name of God, but I do let them know that I am a christian and do not need them to try and convert me to any other religion. I remind them that there are too many unbelievers out in the world that they should spend their time with. As for preaching, I think you are talking about witnessing to others. These two are very different from each other. I have witnessed to others and led them to Christ and felt very happy for them. I also try to let my life be my greatest witness for my faith. By living my life with a Godly attitude, loving others and with tolerence for others; I can do more good for the Kingdom of Heaven.

If people do not preach with words, they preach with their deeds whether good or bad. However, the most important thing is the way you preach and to what extent you are convincing, reliable and credible.
Preaching should be just a stimulus for thinking, and it shouldn't be pressing or persistent. Or what is the difference between preaching and converting others to a religion by force?

I understand your concern. Consider this, we are all created with a purpose. What is your purpose? My purpose as well as everyone else's is to serve God, althogh we serve in different capacities. What we do here will determine our position there.
Understand that being a servant one must listen to his master to move when our master says move and speak when he says speak. This envolves knowing who our master is and what He likes and doesn't like. Learning what His voice sounds like, so that when He speaks we are able to hear and follow His command. This is where you should consider correction.
All do not move or speak according to the command of God! I wouldn't call speaking the words of God to be preaching, I am just a messenger relaying a message. So when ever He tells me to speak or do I do! If we follow this simple rule I think that the mindless preaching that you see as disagreeable would be curbed.
Also I wouldn't want the seeds that He has given me to fall to bad soil...hence casting your pearls before swine as is stated in Matt 7:6

What God do you believe in? No one is preaching to anyone. We are doing what are commander told us to do. Go and tell people the truth. Why would we sit here with the truth and hold on to it so selfishly and let people go to Hell? We have the Truth. You need to check in with your commander in chief and see what HE says about telling the truth in love. I guess you never read Matthew 28:19-20? Thats not a suggestion. It a command. How did you come to know the truth someone had to preach. How do people hear the truth. By preaching the word of God. You need to read your bible. Romans 10: 14-15 says
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" It is not my job to convert. It is God's job to convert.
1Corinthians 3:6-9
6I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 7So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. 9For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.

There is nothing wrong with preaching truth!!
Yes, I guess I have preached a little. People ask questions and I answer them Biblically. Whether or not I'm "successful" is not my problem; it's between them and God. How's that for preaching?

There is but only one Preacher................God.
St. Matthew 10:19
19) But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.
20) For it is not ye that speak but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.
Yes I speak for the Lord Jesus when I preach or minister to people. For it is of God's will for me to do so. I do not seek to be successful for I am not the one who can give you salvation, only God can. I seek the kingdom of heaven. There is no success in the earth that can compare to that which is to come. And God knows those who He wants to be saved.
2 Timothy 2:19
19) Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from sin.

I am not defending Mormons because they aren't even in the game - however as far as Christianity goes - certain priests had the Apostle Peter and those with him beaten and ordered them to "STOP PREACHING! NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR YOUR GARBAGE!".
What did they do? They challenged the priests, "Who should we obey? You or God who commands us to preach this Good News to everyone?" - Peter and his buds went right back to preaching and were beaten more, even thrown into jail.
So I say to you - should we listen to you or God? The answer is clear; God.
