the first 10 to 14 days she will not be willing to breed after this stage she will have another 4 to 7 days where she will be receptive to males this is the time you need to keep her from males. so for the next 14 to 21 days you need to keep a close eye on her when she is in the kennel I would suggest supervision or confinment until her heat is over and do some more research before you breed her have some genetic testing done to provide a health litter of puppies to prospective owners. if you are wanting to breed for the profit you are a "Puppy Mill" breeding for the profit is a dream the added cost of veterinary bills and the shortened life of your female dog are great prices to pay for breeding for profit. a responsible breeder will have vetererinary bills which outcost the profit from a life time of breeding.

well im happy to hear you don't plan on breeding her. There are too many dogs being killed in shelters every day, so people really shouldn't breed their dogs. I suggest you have her spayed, this will prevent her from ever coming into heat again and you will never have to worry about all the blood and male dogs coming around again! And a dog that is spayed or neutered is healthier and lives longer than a dog that is not. Spaying a female dog helps to greatly lower her chances of ever getting certain types of cancer.

U cannot be SURE -when- she is fertile, unless U do a test at the vet's [progesterone level, or a cervical-tissue slide].
so rather than "err" on the side of PREG, please get her INdoors somewhere; a vet's office with a stainless steel cube is fine.
NOTE: dogs CAN breed -thru- cyclone-fencing - do NOT assume that her 'run' will keep the M's safely away, & if Ur dog's kennel run has =No Roof=, she's WAY Too Exposed!
============
personally, i kept my F dog INdoors in my apt, & she wore a 'panty' with a pad; it was simple, it was cheap, & she was safe.
and, No, she wasn't a Chi or any of the purse-pets; she was an adult Akita abt 80#.
it meant no worries, & no clean-up.

Not all females have a "normal" cycle!!!! Especially the first heat can be long or short. Don't believe anyone that says she will be ready on the 10th day!!!! It could be the 7th day, it could be the 20th day!!!!!!!!!
She should not be left alone outside in any enclosure!!!!!! Many mistakes have happened!!!!!!! And in the first heat cycle, sometimes it is hard to detect the "standing heat". Do not leave it to chance!!!!!! Either bring her inside like most good owners do, or get her spayed!!!!!!
Unless she is a show quality dog and you get all her health clearences, you should not breed her anyways!!!!!!!!!

Please have your dog spayed as soon as possible. She will be a better, healthier pet for you. If people knew the devastation caused by not spaying/neutering pets I think more people would spay and neuter. Some people think that pets should have one litter, this is so wrong!! Allowing pets to breed causes many animals to be put to death because there are not enough homes for them. Even when homes are found for puppies and kittens there are the same at the shelter that will not have a home and die because of that.

properly some dogs pass on warmth like out of nowhere. I remembered that my one dogs became a similar. that is that her hormones is beginning to kick in. even as its the first warmth then something might want to pass... some dogs dont even bleed plenty yet they're swollen and vice-versa. purely keep her faraway from you male dogs. in case you want to reproduce wait until eventually eventually she is a minimum of a three hundred and sixty 5 days old or maybe as she is on warmth for the 2d time. Its saver.

PetCo or PetSmart carry I harness she can wear and you put a pantyliner in it. That will help with the blood control...and keep her indoors!!! you'd be surprised how far a female or male canine will travel while in heat....

dude, when my pit had her first heat, only one dog came around.
i ran him off a few times, but then he finally got to her!
i didnt want it either, but it happened!!!
i think most people like me & you keep our dogs in the house, or yard, where they cant get out. but some people (like my ex-neighbors) let thier dogs roam free, so be carefull and good luck!!!
p.s. she did have pretty pups: the dad was a blue eyed husky
so she had some with blue eyes, some with brown, and two with blue & brown!!!
