Quran ch5
[18] And (both) the Jews and the Christians say: "We are the children of Allâh and His loved ones." Say: "Why then does He punish you for your sins?" Nay, you are but human beings, of those He has created, He forgives whom He wills and He punishes whom He wills. And to Allâh belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them; and to Him is the return (of all).
[19] O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Now has come to you Our Messenger (Muhammad (peace be upon him)) making (things) clear unto you, after a break in (the series of) Messengers, lest you say: "There came unto us no bringer of glad tidings and no warner." But now has come unto you a bringer of glad tidings and a warner. And Allâh is Able to do all things.
[20] And (remember) when Mûsâ (Moses) said to his people: "O my people! Remember the Favor of Allâh to you, when He made Prophets among you, made you kings and gave you what He had not given to any other among the 'Alamîn (mankind and jinn, in the past)."

They were God's chosen people until the time of Jesus' death when the veil of the Most Holy was torn in two (at the moment of Jesus' death). After that SPIRITUAL ISRAEL(ites) or Christians became Gods chosen people and Israel was simply a PREFERRED nation by God because of his promise to Abraham. God DID NOT TURN HIS BACK ON ISRAEL, THEY TURNED THEIR BACK ON HIM. Big difference.
If the only way to get sin forgiven is through Jesus the Christ then Spiritual Irsraelites (and yes, this IS in the bible and people can know LOOK IT UP) are the only ones getting forgivness. Jews no longer even practice sacrifice for atonement, much less praying thru the Son of Man.

I've been wondering the same question. My ex-preacher believed this to be the case that they are forever. But i don't have an answer one way or the other of my own or reasons to beleive either way at the current time, so I hoep to see some good answers.

That is Israel not Jewish. When their dispensation ran out ( 490 years that were broken off from the 2300 year prophecy of Danial) they were no longer Gods chosen people. Gods people became anyone who would obey Him (spiritual Israel).
