Take it from a mom, nurse and a very white girl you need lots of water, a cool shower, a sunburn relief formula that has aloe, and an antiinflammatory such as motrin or advil (ibuprofen). Hope you feel better!

Dip some gauze in cold milk and apply to the sunburned area.
You can also try wrapping a bag of frozen peas in a soft terrycloth towel and putting it on the burned area. Also, take a double dose of aspirin or ibuprofen for the pain. If you experience chills, nausea, extreme headache, or dizziness, go immediately to a hospital, you may have suffered sun stroke.

One year I was at Hamilton island a local suggested Metholated Spirits!? I thought it was crazy, but the next time I got badly sunburnt I tried it and it actually works! You just use a cotton ball and apply it to your skin, it actually draws the heat. You can feel the result within 5 Minutes, when you touch your skin it wont be hot anymore. I would use it a few times a day.... it does stink! Depends on how bad the sun burn is, but it has stopped me from peeling when I would normally.

Aloe vera takes the heat out. You could also dissolve aspirin in some rubbing alcohol and put it in a spray bottle and spray it on.

I am 3/4 white, 1/4 Africa/Native. I do not burn easy. But if I do, my solution is to take the pain, and watch out next time:P

Aloe Vera does the job, great. I used it on a bad burn in Hawaii, worked great and saved my vacation.
It's in any good drug store. Comes in a large squeeze bottle.
