You don't really need a high end digicam in order to shoot standard pictures for eBay. Unless you plan on paying eBay's higher listing fees, their standard image size is 400x400 ppi. That said, you can get by with something in the 3 to 4 megapixel range and still have really good photo quality for general snapshot use. If you look at the link below which should take you to a page from outpost.com you'll see some pretty good examples of what I'm talking about. Like the KODAK C310 DIG CAMERA for $109 or the CANON POWER SHOT A410 (which I'd recommend between the two) for $139. Just check around on-line and you should be able to come up with a good deal. Don't forget to check the Sunday paper either.

You don't want the pixels if you're doing E-bay. Don't they have size restrictions or charge extra for eversize?

A 3 MP camera generates something like a 2000 x 1400 image. What do you view at? 1200 x 760? It's almost twice your screen size.

What you really want is flexability. Optical zoom, macro so you can do close objects.

You can get a better MP camera and cut down the rez, but you can, for example, buy a Kodak CD33 3.1 MP camera for $120 or a C330 4 MP for $150 or a Nikon L4 4 MP for $145

All of these are good, low cost, 3 power zoom, macro, movie mode, SD card.

Buying used might be a good idea. eBay might have some good older models that would work great for this (What an irony. Buying on eBay to sell on eBay). 3-4 megapixels will work. Go with a good brand (Nikon, Canon, etc.) and make sure the seller has a good feedback rating.

depends on how much you are willing to spend. My dad uses my Sony Cybershot DSC600 for all hs pictures. Its $199.99 he loves it. He has a kodak something or other, but it doesnt do good closeups. So he grabs mine and they come and nice and clear, not blurry like a lot of others.
