how do i know if my parakeet is a boy or a girl and it's still young?

right now it has a blue cere, but i'm not really sure.

If the parakeet sings alot or talks alot it is a boy. If it is quiet all the time it is a girl. I know this thus far because I have a parakeet couple. That is what I have observed from them. I do not know about if they are young or old.

some people say to look at the cere the area around the nostrals just above the beak and look at the color blue for boys and pink for girls this can only be used for mature birs and the colors are blue or dark purple in some cases for boys and white or brown for girls this method is not fool proof though and to obtain an accrate determination of the sex requires a veterinatariy sexing procedure done by a qualified veterinarian.

Males have blue ceres, females have pink ceres

So you have a male

If its young it should have stripes on top of its forehead if not or their receding your bird is definatly (my apologies if I spelt incorrectly) 6 months or older

If the cere is any color besides blue, i.e., purple, pink, brown, peach, etc...its a girl. The only other way is through DNA.
