I don't think that it's a religious policy that women don't fight directly in war. I've asked the men that I serve with, and all of them say that most men would be worried about protecting the women and do things that they weren't ordered to or that might jeopardize the mission. While I don't quite accept that answer, I haven't heard any others.
It sounds like the woman who emailed your pastor is trying to use something made up of whole cloth (a lie) to support her position against the war. It's okay if she's against the war; that's her right. But although the Christian Bible says "thou shalt not kill," I don't remember from the readings I did as a child that it ever said anything about women not fighting in a war. And there have been plenty of people that go against that particular rule, so I don't know why she's complaining about one war when she probably hasn't cared about murders in her own city, etc.

Speaking out against the war in Iraq and not believing women should fight in a war are two different things.
Read the OT. Debera ( the daughter of Moses I think) was a warrior. She ran an army. Strong women of the Bible are not talked about often and it's really sad. We (women) come from a past rich in a history of strength and courage.
Being against THIS war is another matter. Some believe that war is wrong. Period. Peace should always be the first choice. They feel it's the "Christian" way of looking at things and I'm not here to say they're wrong but these are two different issues.

First of all, just because the Bible does not explicitly say that women should not fight in a war, does not mean that this is not a normative role for the female gender.
When you look up all of the passages concerning the gathering together of an army to fight, it always without exception only mentions men as the human resources to be used when going into battle against an enemy. This fact alone ought to cause us to take very seriously the pattern that God has given us to follow. We can therefore logically deduce that women ought not to serve in combat roles.
Upon further reflection, I would contend the the Bible considers women as far to valuable to be used in the military. For this reason, I would not allow my wife or any of my daughter's to join the military with the possible acception that they would never be in a combative role.

It doesn't say anywhere in the bible (that I have seen) that women can't fight in a war, it simply only mentions men fighting because at that time women were the care takers. If they were off fighting, no one was home to take care of the family. I don't know where this woman got her information, but I will see if I can do some research and find out for you.

OK, I give up. I have been picking questions that are at the top of the list that pops up after I answer a question and this one is just over the top.
Are you really Jerry Fallwell and are you talking about Pat Robertson?
Couldn't all you nutcase religious bozos rent an island like Bikini Atoll, choose up sides and just kill each other quietly and leave the rest of us peace loving non-believers alone?

When Israel were the 'chosen' people, women did not participate in war.
However, we are Christians and Christians aren't suppose to participate in war.
You may have read 2 Timothy 2:24 or 2 Corinthians 10:3
If that lady says such a scripture exists, ask her to show it.
No show, no issue.

No where that I know of. Woman became warriors, judges, etc. Woman are different than men and cannot take on certain responsibilities (a pastor for example), but it says nothing about fighting. This is not because they are inferior, it's just that they've been granted different roles.

It doesn't, In fact there is an apocryphal book of the Bible that depicts a great a woman warrior. The book is called Judith. You should check it out. You won't find it in your Bible. You'll have to find an Apocryphal Bible.

I don't believe I have ever heard of that before. Women traditionally have not fought in wars, but I don't believe it is condemned in the Bible. In fact I don't think it is addressed at all.
